OK BUT GO OFF YOU ARE SO RIGHT
that boy LOVED his mom. he did EVERYTHING for her. he took care of her for a year when she started getting sick.
Anyway fic where Jason's best memory/person he loves most/deepest desire is revealed through magic or something but instead of anything to do with the bats or being a vigilante it's him and Catherine. His best memory is his first time visiting the public library with his mom. The person he loves most is the first person who ever loved him. His deepest desire is that his parents never died and he grew up in that little east end apartment and he graduated top of his class and he became a doctor and he got his folks a bigger house and he visits them regularly with his normal civilian boyfriend and they accept him and he's happy. If any of you even care.
#bat rambles#i'll even pull up the fucking panels if i have to like#ugh his robin run is so good#also one of the BIGGEST worries bruce had at the start of Jason's run?#that jason was going to kill two-face bc two-face killed his dad#his parents are supposed to be two people who got swept up into shit bc of poverty and the cycle you get trapped in when you're that deep i#and his dad was just some random goon who fucking died#like Jason is the child of one of these people that Batman often just beats the fuck out of and jails#and jason had to take care of his sick mom until she fucking died on him#when bruce found him he was just kinda chilling in the abandoned complex he had been taking care of her in#and jason didn't really give a fuck about his dad#but he cared enough that he was big mad when he faced two-face again#but his love for his mom is why he went so fucking feral looking for her#bruce also fucked up a LOT with jason#he tried to send him to ma gunn's school at first which. bad idea.#but jason fucked her shit up bc he's smart as hell and very determined to be his own man#and then he doesn't trust jason with two-face#and again later when he thinks jason killed the guy who brutalized (and murdered) the sex worker before Bruce was like#ok ur done with robin now ur trauma is TOO MUCH#like babes bruce was so bad with him#he has happy memories of being robin#and he has a few memories here and there of being happy like the school stuff in the comic where he's doing the extra credit at the museum#or when he joins the theater club#but he never really fit in with either. he had been through too much to connect w people his age#and then he found out his mom was actually alive#after taking care of her for a fucking year#stealing and bringing her food#he dropped out of school for her my guys#that boy is a mama's boy#jason todd

Dead Man's Diner pt 2
Danny had to admit, Lunch Lady was an excellent teacher.
Sure they were blitzing though a cook book thst was more tape and hope the paper, but Danny was for once actually understanding and enjoying being taught.
Cracking an egg into a bowl, Danny held it close while whisking quickly, not fully incorporating the flour in his pancake batter before dumping a good sized dollop on the flat top, smiling from the brief sizzle that he heard.
There was a sudden cacophony sounds from the front of house (which was the dining area? He never knew that before) putting the flat top on low, Danny looked over to where Lunch Lady was floating only to find nothing.
Blinking a bit, Danny wiped his hands off OK his apron as he poked his head out, frowning at the diner car, "What was that..." his words were cut off by one of the blinds slats bending as if pried open, and as he squinted, Danny saw two figures watching from a distance ontop another rail car.
Vigilantes
Danny felt his heart flutter with excitement, while not as cool as maybe Martian Manhunter or StarFire (since y'know...fucking aliens, Space) the Gotham caped community were interesting, if only since Batman and his Flock were Sam's low key obsession, she had even gone out as Robin for multiple Halloweens, and don't even get him started on the fan theories about them all.
Smirking he tapped the bar, allowing thr blinds to snap closed, "Sam is so going to flip that I saw the Birds before her." Letting out a little giggled, Danny quickly swore as he smelt a bit of burning and rushed to flip his pancakes.
---
Tim was, in Dicks opinion, the most concerning member of the family, sure most days he gives of "miserable wet cat" energy but even then Dick had seen his little brother easily take down guys that even Bruce had trouble with.
That wasnt even touching on his um...mental quirks
The less he speaks of the time period between Bruce's and Kons deaths till their eventual return, the better.
Putting down the binoculars, Dick stole a glance over at Red Robin, who was frowning deeply at his wrist computer, scooting a little closer Dick leaned over to see what was happening, "Whatcha do~oing?"
So entranced by what he was reading Tim jumped a little, an elbow flying out to where Dicks face had been a second ago as he turned and glared.
"Don't...! Do that Wing! Ugh..." shaking his head as he let out a huff Tim took his eyes off the small monitor and looked up at the diner car, pointing at it as he spoke scornfuly.
"That place does not exist."
"Like, legally? I am sure Batburger doesn't either-"
"No." Tim said, cutting the older vigilante off, "It doesn't exist physically."
"Timmy..." Dick said as he ran through the protocols for when RedRobin got a little too many insane things in his head.
"Get that look off your face Wing, it really doesn't exist, like..." letting out a sigh, the teen tried to put his words right "Don't look straight at it but a bit to the side so it's to the side of your eye." Pointing to a middle distance a bit away from the diner cart, Dick sent a small frown at his brother but did as he was asked.
"Holy leaping lizards..." Tim, somehow, was right, since when Dick just looked about a few feet away from the diner, it started to waver turning...transparent? And a little blue? But when he looked at it closer it was just a normal, abet run down looking diner.
"Exactly, no need to bench me till Agent A stuffs me full of anti-psychotics!"
"That was one time Tim, and you were having a mental break down."
"I am not lying when I say we killed Santa Claus Dick!"
"Sure Tim...sure"
---
Danny drummed his fingers on the breakfast bar, nursing a cup of coffee as he waited for something to happen.
He knew thst he was being watched, he had a vague idea who was doing the watching, but was starting to get a bit bored waiting for them to get closer.
Pausing mid sip, a grin spread across Danny's lips, "Hey cart? Can you do something that might draw those guys over here? Let's get some customers!"
Some how, Danny's grin only grew at the rumble of the cart, and he xould hav sworn he heard a sound that was a mix between a train horn and a chuckle.
---
Tim shot his brother a stinging glare, swatting at his arm as he blushed, he did every much indeed accidentally killed Santa Claus and took an impromptu trip to Apokolips to give DarkSeid coal.
His next rebuttal to Nightwing was cut off as the diner cart shuddered as if it was in an earthquake before it stilled, and the banner that was across it suddenly gained a new line.
[JUST NOW! VIGILANTES AND HEROS GET ONE FREE SIDE OF FRIES! COME ON IN BEFORE THE OFFER ENDS!]
Tim was silent for a moment, watching the cart to see if there was any more changes before turning to Dick, who had lost the joyful energy that he always seemed to have.
"RR, plans changed, we are going to investigate inside."
Tim gave a sharp nod, his bo staff elongating as he grappled down to the train tracks below, his boots crunching gravel underfoot as he slipped from shadow to shadow, getting closer to Big C's diner.
---
Danny was in the back, flipping through his cook book as he heard a bell ring, jolting up, Danny could see through the service window and see who came in.
He had never met a real hero before, not like the two that had just came in, feeling nervous, Danny fumbled with a small notebook as he came out from the kitchen, grinning at the two Birds.
"Heya! Thanks for coming to Big C's! Names Danny and I am kinda the only one in today, what can I get you both?"
His eyes flickered between the two vigilantes, noticing new things each time he looked at them, like how Red Robin's cape had buttons instead of being sown on, or how Nightwings suit wasn't slick but actually textured.
---
Dick looked at everything he could as he stood in the diners door, it looked like a typical 50s styled mom and pop kinda place, an old radio buzzed with songs of a bygone era while the seats were cracked pink leather vinyl.
He could hear someone moving in the back, resting a hand on his eskrima sticks, Dick stalked further in, it felt real enough...
He could feel Red Robin knock into his back as the person from the back came into view, it was a teen, and holy hell did he look like Bruce Wayne adoption bait, raven hair, blue eyes and a cheesy looking grin.
He couldn't be older than Damian, who had turned 16 a few months ago, the teen was just so...tiny.
Danny, that's the name given to them, and Dick can see it, he looked like a Danny.
Pausing to look to Tim, Dick smiled back at the teen, "Well...can we see a menu?"

Waking up to the phone ringing at full blast was not the best start for the morning. Steveâs gruff voice centers you as your head rises slowly from his chest, looking at him reaching for his phone on the bedside table and picking it up with a grunt.Â
âHello?âÂ
You can faintly hear Robin on the other side, not really hearing what she is saying, you are still so sleepy. You lay your head down on his chest again, closing your eyes as a soft yawn falls from your lips.Â
Steve wraps his arm around you again, rubbing your side as he grumbles into the phone.Â
âYouâ ugh⌠I thought you didnât have to work today?-- Canât you simply use your bike, the weather is nice,â his voice died down a little when he looked out his window, at the gray sky and the rustling trees, no sign of the heat and the sun from yesterday. He sighs and closes his eyes again, âfine, okay⌠fine.â He mumbles a goodbye before he hangs up the phone, putting the receiver back into place, he rubs his face and tightens his hold on you.Â
You open your eyes again and prop your chin up on his chest, blinking at the beautiful man before you.Â
Steve squints one eye open, a smile spreading on his lips when he looks at you, his hand falls to the back of your head, his fingers now running through your messy hair.Â
âMorning, honey,â he whispers, already making you feel butterflies this morning.Â
âGood morning, Stevie,â you whisper, giving him a sweet smile.Â
âI wish it was a good one,â he grumbles and breaks eye contact for a moment so he can look at the clock on his nightstand. Itâs only eight in the morning. âIâm tired and I gotta pick Robin up in an hour,â he murmurs words that leave you disappointed.Â
You wanted more time with him before his shiftâŚÂ
Steve squeezes your waist and pulls you up a little, attempting to pull you closer and you welcome it. You bring your hand up towards his face, brushing back the hair that hangs in front of his eyes, you move closer to him, no longer fighting the urge to kiss him first thing in the morning.Â
You donât know how his heart skips a beat and how the fire sparks within him when you press your lips against his, greeting him more properly with a soft kiss. If you knew, you would simply throw those three words out, right this second, you wouldnât wait for a perfect moment, you wouldnât wait for later.Â
Steve hums against your lips and presses his mouth stronger against yours, getting lost in this sweet morning kiss.Â
You smile against him and cup his cheek, nuzzling your nose against his.Â
You can still feel the previous night with him, his hands on your skin, his lips on yours, his words, his actions, your plan for today, which unfortunately got postponed already. You have no doubts, not a single one. You were thinking about it the whole time before you fell asleep, last night, you thought about how youâd do it, what you would say to him, what words would be right to use. You wanted to do it in the morning, you wanted to take care of him, make him coffee and breakfast, the way he always does for you and then afterwards, you would do it, you would tell him, you would get the words off your chest that you never thought would see the light in this life.Â
But something, someone already got in the way.Â
When you pull away from one another, you donât shy away from giving him another sweet smile, a deep look into his eyes, another peck to his lips. You catch him by surprise and you donât even know it â how his heart is racing, how his mind crosses out all the anxious thoughts that spread inside of him last night after this sweet kiss.Â
Steveâs hand is wrapped around your upper arm, his lips are tingling, his skin feels hot already, his eyes gaze into yours and he sees something that wasnât there before or so he thinks. You look at him with a kind of softness that he feels a stranger to, you smile at him in a way you only did when you were drunk and clingy with him, you look at his lips as though you never want to stop kissing him.Â
You fill him with hope again, the hope that began to dwindle the night before.Â
âIâm gonna make you some coffee,â you whisper against his lips, squeezing his arm and blessing him with another smile before you pull away from him, leaving his side to his dismay. You push the covers off your body and place your feet on the ground.Â
Steve places his arm behind his head, admiring the way your hair falls down your bare back, the way your naked body looks so heavenly. His cock stirs underneath the covers when you bend down to pick up your panties, exposing yourself to him, causing his hunger to grow in him. He would rather stay in bed with you, kiss every inch of your skin and worship you in every way possible, make you moan his name, make you see stars, make you cling to him because he is the only one you need.Â
Clad in your underwear, you walk over to his dresser and pick out one of his shirts, completely ignoring your dress that hangs over his desk chair. You put on one of his only band tees that he owns, The Cure. He smiles, adoring the way his shirt looks on you. You pick out a pair of your shorts and put them on, tying the string at the front, you look over your shoulder and eye him up and down in a way that leaves him blushing.Â
Steveâs mornings with you are always his favorites but something about today feels⌠different. Something about the way you look at him makes him feel happy, happier.Â
He gets out of bed begrudgingly, he follows you into the bathroom after putting his boxers on, he brushes his teeth beside you and watches you through the mirror, sharing glances and smiles with you, he watches the way you brush your hair and the way you apply moisturizer to your skin and it hits him like it never did before, this moment is so intimate, just as intimate as any other moment you have shared lately. Every kiss, every touch, every glance, everything has changed, not just for him but also for you, despite his doubtful thoughts, he has to admit that itâs there, a change.
You wouldnât do this with just anyone, right?Â
You wouldnât make coffee, let alone cook breakfast for just someone.Â
You wouldnât joke around and steal kisses from him if there wasnât something.Â
And you certainly wouldnât play with his hand, entwine your fingers with his on the way back to your house if he was just casual to you.
And when Steve parks his car in your driveway and you turn to face him with a smile on your face, something else sparks in your eyes⌠nervousness, hope, giddiness, excitement. You hide your face behind your hair after a moment of silence and he sees the way you take a few deep breaths before you look into his eyes again.Â
âDo you want to spend the night with me⌠after the party?â You ask with a sudden shakiness that catches him off guard a little.Â
âOf course,â he nods, furrowing his brows.Â
This shouldnât even be a question anymore.
âOkay, good,â you nod, whispering. âAre you coming with Robin?â
âYeah, do you want me to pick you up too?â He asks, smiling.Â
You shake your head, âno, itâs fine. Iâm probably gonna go earlier and help Eddie with the snacks and everything.âÂ
Steve nods, âalright then, guess Iâll see you there?â
âYeah,â you whisper and look into his hazel eyes as you begin to move closer, âIâll see you there, Stevie.âÂ
You kiss his lips, making his smile even bigger.Â
You pull away and gaze into his eyes for a moment, your smile matching his own.Â
Steve feels a longing in his chest, a deep emotion that he canât decipher yet as he looks into your eyes but something that he knows is that he doesnât want to let you go in this moment, that he wants to kiss, kiss, kiss you until all his doubt is gone again, until he knows what you feel, until he knows that this is real.Â
He watches you with a smile that never falls, not even when you walk away from him, not even when he can no longer see you after you step into your home and shut the door.Â
His smile lingers, the way it always does because of you.Â
It lingers on the whole drive over to Robinâs, the tingling sensation on his lips and in his stomach stays, the fluttering and the beat of his heart never lessens, hope seeps back in, taking over once again after this morning with you.Â
And it all stays.Â
It stays.
-
The clouds grow bigger and darker, looming over Hawkins like a dark veil, the wind howls through the trees, the leaves ripping off the branches and falling onto the pavement, the curtains in your room move strongly.Â
You clutch your towel to your chest, not caring about the water that drips from your hair and onto your carpet, you quickly make your way over to the window that you forgot to close before your bath. You look out and up into the sky, feeling the anxiousness in you already seeping in.Â
The storm isnât any close yet but itâs brewing, the clouds get darker and they move faster as the wind seems to get stronger and stronger. Something is coming and you hope that you wonât be here, alone in this house anymore once it takes over fully, so you decide to get ready sooner than you wanted to.Â
You turn on some music to drown out the noises from the howling wind. You sit down in front of your vanity and take a look at yourself in the mirror. The marks on your neck are clear, the happiness in your eyes even evident to yourself, the circles that always glow like shadows underneath them are no longer there, your lips curl into a smile as you touch the side of your neck where he kissed you, just the thought, the memory of it makes your heart and stomach flutter. Â
You take a deep breath and begin getting ready, applying make-up to your face, using only his favorite colors as you put on eyeshadow and lipstick, words mingle together in your mind as you form sentences and prepare yourself for something that you never thought you would do. You rehearse it all in your head, growing more and more nervous as you do so.Â
You donât know how things will go, how they will end but one thing is for certain, tonight everything will change, no matter his reaction, things wonât be the same after this.Â
You feel scared and anxious, you know that you could lose him tonight, you know that he could slip right through your fingers, you know that he could break your heart and crash it into a million pieces but even that thought isnât enough to stop you from going after what you always wanted.Â
Nothing can stop you, not yourself, not anyone else, not the storm building up behind you.Â
You feel a giddiness, an excitement you havenât felt in a while, youâre not sure if you ever felt it.Â
You put on a pair of Leviâs and a white shirt, using the opportunity of the cool weather to wear your leather jacket today, you pick out your favorite jewelry and spritz his favorite perfume on your skin. You run your fingers through your styled hair and take another look at yourself in the mirror, glancing at your bed behind you and hope that tears wonât be shed into your pillow tonight.Â
Despite the fears that linger, despite the storm moving closer and closer, your excitement runs deepest in your bones.Â
You wonder what Eddie will say, think about your decision.
You know what Billy would think, what he would say, how he would look at you.Â
You know that heâd be proud of you for going after what you want, he always waited for this moment.Â
You remember the look on his face when you lied to him about what happened at Scoops Ahoy, you remember how he sighed and how he smiled sadly when you told him that you were too afraid to ask him out and never ended up going inside â you lied to him to protect Steve, you knew what he would do if you told him the truth about what really happened, you knew that Steve would lose another fight.Â
It only feels right to take his car today, you rarely do it, you rarely take the Camaro out for rides but for the sake of keeping the battery alive, you take it out for late night drives or for short trips to the store whenever you get a sudden craving for something.Â
Itâs funny, maybe even eerie that the car still smells like him. Itâs been over a year since he has been gone but his cologne still lingers. You donât know whether that is the reason for the calming feeling in you whenever youâre inside of the Camaro or if it might be his ghostly presence.Â
But whatever it is, it grounds you, it makes you feel warm and safe, even in the storm and even through your racing thoughts.Â
When you arrive at Eddieâs and Wayneâs house, you park the car in their driveway, behind Eddieâs Impala. You sit there for a moment, not getting out of the car just yet, you take a few deep breaths and take another look at yourself in the mirror.Â
Youâre pretty sure that no one is here yet, you got here early, two hours earlier than you should be. Eddie wonât mind, he had been asking to hang out with you alone for a while now and as you look at his house, youâre hit with a sudden guilt, you have neglected him a little once you and Steve started spending more time with each other.Â
When the rain starts pouring, you jump out of the car and quickly make your way over to his house, running up the porch steps and finding shelter beneath the roof, before you can even knock on the door or ring the bell, the door opens and a smiling Eddie greets you, his curly hair messy and wild, his eyes sparkling and pearly whites showing as his smile turns into a grin. He steps aside and lifts his arm, bowing playfully.Â
âWelcome to the castle, milady.âÂ
A laugh falls from your lips, you shake your head at him as you walk inside.Â
âHi Eddie,â you snort.Â
He chuckles at your eye roll, closing the door once youâre inside, he takes you in, the smile on your face, the sparkle in your eyes, the happiness and the excitement etched into your features. He crosses his arms over his chest.Â
âHey,â he smiles and squints his eyes at you, âhow are you, sweets?âÂ
You take your jacket off and glance at your best friend, at his squinted eyes, at the curious look on his face.
âPeachy.â
Eddie nearly laughs, thinking youâre joking by using that word, you said it too enthusiastically, too happily, too excitedly. The smile on your face matches the tone in your voice though and there is something about you that looks different today, he doesnât know what it is but there is something. Your hair is styled the way it always is but it's shining beneath the dim lights in the hallway, your skin is glowing, you just look happy.Â
âYou look pretty.â
You furrow your brows but smile even brighter.Â
âThank you, Eds.â
Your best friend steps towards you, he wraps his arm around you and starts leading you to his kitchen.Â
âWhatâs up with the uh,â he pauses, pointing his finger at your face, âsmiley face, you seem so happy today, did something happen or are you just that happy to see me?â He asks, chuckling.Â
You roll your eyes at him and shake your head. The giggle that slips from your lips and echoes through his hallway makes him clutch his chest dramatically.Â
âSo, youâre not happy to see me?â He asks with a bewildered look on his face, âouch.âÂ
You slap his arm playfully and push away from him when you both step inside the large kitchen, âdork. Of course Iâm happy to see you.âÂ
Two paper bags filled with snacks and drinks are on the kitchen counter, nothing taken out of them yet, you instantly get to work, taking out the bags of chips and different kinds of candy he got for game night, movie night or whatever else this partyâs theme will be.Â
âIâm glad youâre here early,â Eddie says as he makes his way over to his fridge.Â
âWhy? So you got someone to fill the snack bowls?âÂ
He looks at you over his shoulder, sending you a glare, âdo you think I see you as my maid or something?âÂ
âYeah.â
He shrugs at you and turns back again, âdonât see you wearing a maid costume.â
You snort at him, âthat would look ridiculous.âÂ
âIâm sure Harrington wouldnât mind seeing you in one,â he cackles.Â
Blood rushes to your cheeks and you have to hide your flustered face even though you know that he isnât looking at you now.Â
You know how protective Eddie feels over you, how he never approved of the situation you had gotten yourself into with Steve, how he wanted to protect you from the possible heartbreak that might be leading up to but despite his negative feelings about all of this, he had been calm in the past few weeks, less negative, less cold with Steve.Â
Will he encourage you when you tell him what you want to do?Â
Or will he think that youâre making a mistake?Â
You watch as he takes out two beers from his fridge, placing them on the kitchen counter, for a moment he looks around for the bottle opener with a frown on his face before he decides to use his lighter instead, popping the caps with ease. He slides one of the bottles over the marble counter, putting it in front of you, he raises his eyebrows at you as his eyes flicker back and forth between the beer and you.Â
With a chuckle, you push away the snacks and grab the beer, âparty hasnât started yet.â
âParty,â he snorts and brings his bottle up, clinking it against yours, âparty is gonna be at Hopperâs wedding, Iâm gonna get shitfaced with you.â
âI donât know if thatâs a good idea,â you mumble and take a sip of your beer.Â
âWhy? Are you scared youâre gonna get all cute and clingy with Harrington again?â He laughs, giving you a smug smile, reminding you of the fourth of july.Â
You roll your eyes at him but you canât hide the smile on your face, the smile that turns into a lovesick one as you think about last night.Â
Eddie drinks his beer and watches you, the way your smile doesnât fall, the way your eyes are basically hearts, the way you seem so giddy over something as you shift from one foot to the other.Â
Had someone told him that he would get to see you like this a few months back, he probably wouldâve laughed, he wouldâve had more trouble believing that than what Dustin told him about the upside down when he was dragged into it.Â
You always had a stone cold face, your smile only ever appeared when you said something snarky, you rarely showed feelings and you only ever rolled your eyes at anything someone other than Max or Lucas said, it took you time to get used to the others, to warm up to them, it was a surprise that you warmed up to him so quickly but maybe it was because you had some things in common, though while you built a defensive mechanism around you by being cold and even mean at times, Eddie used humor and indifference.Â
Now you are standing here in front of him, a person so different from the one he befriended back in March.Â
You are happy, you are glowing.
Eddie is just about to ask, his curiosity is killing him and he canât wait no more to find out whatâs gotten you so excited.Â
âIâm gonna tell him.âÂ
He knows what you mean, he knows right away.Â
âI-I donât want to do this anymore, itâs just not enough. And I know what youâre gonna say but⌠I just want to do it, Eddie. We went to the city last night and we⌠we held hands and we kissed in the middle of the street and we talked for hours! He even started kissing me goodbye and I just⌠my feelings are getting stronger and I donât even know how thatâs even possible but I just⌠I feel like Iâm going to explode if I donât tell him the truth and I know,â you pause to take a deep breath, closing your eyes for a moment before you look back up at him again, âI know how this can end, I know that he could reject me, break my heart and push me away but I need to try, Eddie. I want to try.âÂ
Eddieâs eyes soften, his shoulders slump as a sad smile crosses his face.Â
The truth is, he is happy, proud of you for going after what you want but he is also scared, scared that this happiness that has just started showing will be taken away again when the man in question will shatter your heart to pieces.Â
Despite Steveâs obvious affection towards you, he still struggles to see through him, to read him, to find out what he is feeling for you. And what he had been told by a certain someone, doesnât help his doubt. Yet he canât deny what he sees in Steveâs eyes. He canât deny the possibility that he feels the same for you so who is he to intervene? To stop you from going after who your heart desires the most?Â
You stare at your best friend, waiting for a reaction from him, his face is unreadable, his eyes distant but then he makes a move, he places his bottle on the counter and he walks towards you, surprising you by pulling you into his arms, he hugs you tightly and squeezes your arms.Â
A confused smile spreads on your face but you donât deny him, you wrap your arms around his middle.Â
Eddie had always been affectionate, always stole hugs from you and a few others he considered close friends but usually it happened when he was hyper, drunk or high.Â
âIâm proud of you, sweets,â he mumbles and takes a deep breath before he continues, âIâll be there to cheer you on⌠with pom poms.âÂ
âPlease donât,â you giggle and pull back when he places his hands on your shoulders, his brown eyes are filled with kindness, his smile warm.
âJokes aside, Harringtonâs a really lucky guy, you know? Youâre a catch, sweetheart and Iâm not just saying that because Iâm your best friend, youâre really fucking amazing and cool, heâd be really dumb and blind not to want you as his girl,â he grins, lifting his hand to tap your nose, âyouâre a cutie.âÂ
You swat his hand away with a snort, âcutieâŚâÂ
âWhat, itâs true!â He laughs, his eyes glinting with amusement, he tilts his head to the side and his laughter dies down after a moment, a serious expression takes over instead and he squeezes your shoulder again, âbut hey, no matter what happens, Iâll be there for you, okay?âÂ
You swallow the lump in your throat and nod, trying to smile but failing to do so when your emotions spread inside of you like a fire, you donât know whatâs gotten over you, maybe itâs the kind eyes of your best friend or the caring tone in his voice, the brotherly love he feels for you, the protectiveness that reminds you of one you had gotten before.Â
You appreciate him so dearly.Â
âThank you, Eddie,â you whisper.
He smiles at you and gives you a nod.Â
âWhen are you gonna do it?âÂ
âTonight, after the party.âÂ
He nods again, âalright, you gotta tell me how it went.âÂ
âI will,â you smile and look into your best friendâs eyes, taking a deep breath, you realize just how nervous you are when you exhale shakily.Â
Eddie wants to take your nervousness, he wants to rid you of your anxiety and your fear of rejection, he wants to tell you that itâll be okay, that things will work out, he wants to protect you but he canât, and he wonât lie to your face when he is uncertain about it all, so all he can offer is comfort.Â
And for you, itâs more than enough.Â
âNow come on, letâs fill these snack bowls and order some pizza,â he grins and pats your shoulder before he steps away from you again.Â
âYeah,â you smile, tilting your head down, you look at your hand, at the missing hair tie around your wrist, the one that found home somewhere else.Â
You donât got a single clue to where this night will take you, not a gut feeling, nothing but as the time drags closer to the evening, your chest begins to fill with a kind of anxiety that makes you feel on edge, the one that prompts you to open a second bottle of beer when you finish your first, it doesnât get you drunk, not even tipsy but it makes you feel a little calmer.Â
And once everyone starts piling in slowly, you start relaxing a little more, especially when Nancy arrives and she instantly pulls you away from the others to talk about wedding preparations, about the color of her nails and the shoes she hasnât settled on yet, about how excited Joyce was when she went cake tasting with her, Will and El.Â
âHave you settled on a hairstyle yet?â Nancy asks you and takes a sip of the drink Jonathan made her.Â
She noticed the way you kept looking over her shoulder while she was talking, the way your eyes kept moving back to the front door like you were waiting for someone.Â
Everyone is already here, well, everyone except for Robin and Steve.Â
You shake your head, âno, Iâll probably keep it open, I donât know yet.â
âYou should add a pink bow to your hair! It would match your heels!âÂ
You smile at her enthusiasm, at the smile on her face, at the kindness in her eyes. She has been such a good friend to you but sometimes it feels weird to get along with her, given her history with Steve. You wonder how she will react if the truth ever makes it to the light.Â
âYou think?â
She nods her head causing her curls to bounce just the way Eddieâs always do.Â
âI might do that then,â you smile at her.Â
âI canât believe the wedding is in a few days already,â she says as her face grows a little serious, âand that Iâll be leaving for college soonâŚâ Her voice falls a little quieter, her blue eyes search for her boyfriend who is standing on the other side of the room, checking out the vinyls on Eddieâs shelf. A look of sadness and longing crosses her soft features, her lips curling into a sullen smile.Â
They are going to different colleges, their ways parting once again⌠for a while. You can see the sadness in them both, the looks they share as they spend their last days together. You have no doubt that they will make it, that they will push through this time of separation. Nancy and Jonathan are so deeply bonded, you canât imagine one without the other permanently.Â
âIâm gonna miss our shopping trips,â Nancy mumbles, directing her sad gaze at you now. âYou should come visit me in Boston sometime! Before Christmas! You could fly in and we could go Christmas shopping together and enjoy a couple days there before we go back to Hawkins together!âÂ
You laugh at her lightened up eyes, at the happy grin on her face.Â
It feels weird to think that far ahead when itâs something you never really do anymore, you rarely even think about the next week, let alone a holiday that is still so far away, a holiday that usually only saddens you and reminds you of what you had lost.Â
âIâd love that,â you nod, smiling.Â
Somehow her blue eyes lighten up even more and it makes you feel warm inside, youâre not the girl people ever tried to befriend and you never blamed them, you werenât exactly open to making friends but for some reason the girl in front of you chose you and you donât even know why.Â
The doorbell rings at an unexpected moment, when youâre lost in your thoughts and unprepared to see him. You straighten your back and look over Nancyâs shoulder when Eddie rushes through the hallway to open the front door.Â
You miss the look on Nancyâs face as she keeps her eyes on you, the curiosity flickering in her eyes, the knowing.Â
You lick your lips and blink, heart already lurching to your throat when you hear Robinâs voice and wait for him to follow her inside but the door closes a little too soon for your liking and the lack of his voice and his presence makes you frown.Â
Robin walks in by herself, Vickie isnât by her side and neither is the one you have been waiting for. Her a little wet from the rain, a not so happy look deep in her features.Â
Your eyebrows furrow and you can already feel the disappointment, the confusion settling inside of you so deeply that it makes you uncomfortable.Â
Where is he?Â
âHey guys,â Robin smiles as she steps into the living room, waving at the teens who are in a hushed conversation that none of you seem to be allowed to hear.Â
You notice the way her smile doesnât match the look in her eyes or the rough tone in her voice. She doesnât look at you but that doesnât surprise you, not anymore.Â
âWhereâs Steve?â Dustin asks, beating you to the question that has been repeating itself in your head.Â
Robin hesitates, she shifts from one foot to the other, twisting the rings on her fingers as her eyes meet yours briefly.Â
âHeâs not feeling well, he stayed home⌠he⌠has a migraine.âÂ
If there is one thing that you learned about Robin, itâs that she is either a fantastic liar or the most terrible one and right now, she is a terrible one.Â
âWait what?â Eddie mumbles from behind her, giving her the same look that you have given her, âhe was fine earlier when I called him.âÂ
You donât know what to feel at this very moment but worry is the biggest emotion of all. You would drop everything now to go and take care of him.Â
âWell, he isnât anymore, migraines come out of nowhere, he said he wants to be alone,â she grumbles and gives you a pointed look before she turns on her heel and leaves the living room to go into the kitchen.Â
Jonathan and Nancy pay no mind to her little attitude, no one really is, except for you and your best friend. Eddie shoots you a concerned glance, furrowing his brows at you in question but you are just as lost as him.Â
He watches how your expression falls, how your shoulders slump and your lips curl downwards. He sighs, wondering if Robin is telling the truth or if there is something else. He canât stand to see the disappointment in your eyes when there was nothing but excitement and happiness just minutes ago.Â
You excuse yourself to Nancy, not even noticing the look in her eyes as they follow you until youâre no longer in her sight.Â
This moment reminds you of your first night with Steve, the same excitement that lingered in you then, the same one that was crashed when Robin arrived without him and told you that he went out with Heidi was crushed yet again, only this time, you know that he isnât out on a date, he isnât seeing someone else, he wouldnât do that, not even if there are no feelings in him for you. Something else is going on, that deep unsettling feeling that takes home in you is proof of that.Â
This isnât like him, even if he did feel sick, even if he did have a migraine, he wouldâve called you, he wouldâve told you that he canât stay with you tonight.Â
You walk through the darkened hallway, not even flinching when lightning strikes outside, too absorbed in your anxious thoughts. You make your way into the kitchen where Robin is opening her beer, she rolls her eyes when she sees you and it really shouldnât affect you this much anymore, she always has an attitude when it comes to you, it seems.Â
âHey,â you mumble, still trying to be friendly towards Steveâs best friend.Â
âHi,â she murmurs, grumpily.Â
You donât walk into the room any further, wanting distance between yourself and her.Â
âWhatâs really going on?â You ask, not bothering to try and have small talk with someone who canât stand your guts.Â
âI donât know what youâre talking about,â she shrugs with a stoic look on her face.Â
No matter how many times she had given you the cold shoulder before, it still surprises you sometimes to see her act so indifferent towards you. The girl who stuttered every time she tried to talk to you when you had just joined the group, the girl that always made you laugh and threw funny comments at you turned into this but she is only like that with you, no one else.
âYeah, you do,â you scoff, crossing your arms over your chest, âI know you donât like me, I donât know what I did to you butââ
Her scoff cuts you off, she looks up at the ceiling and mumbles some words that you canât understand and it only angers you even more.Â
âJust tell me what happened, I was with him this morning and he was fine, he wanted to come here, he wanted to spend the night with me.â You are already pleading, showing emotions to a girl you probably shouldn't but you are desperate to know, to find out why he isnât here.
She shakes her head at you and laughs, âIâm sure youâll be fine without him, Blondie. You can always find another guy, itâs not like you had trouble finding some before,â she throws harsh words and a look of judgment your way, not giving you a chance to reply to her rude comment before she brushes past you and makes her way back to the group.Â
Your stare is blank as you keep your eyes on the ground, not knowing what to feel, what to think, what emotions are swirling inside of you right now because suddenly there are too many of them.Â
You found out how rude she can be with the comments and remarks she throws at you sometimes but she never judged you for your past, you never thought that she would do that.Â
How could you ever want someone else?Â
You never did before, not even when you were sure that he hated you, not even then did you want someone else.Â
He is the only one for you, he will always be the only one.Â
You glance at the telephone and you donât think twice before you head towards it, basically ripping the receiver from its place, you quickly dial his number and press your back against the wall, waiting for the call to go through, waiting for him to pick up.Â
Your feelings tell you that you wonât get any answers, not like this, not right now.Â
It rings and it rings but nothing and that only makes you feel worse.Â
Steve always picks up the phone, no matter what, no matter who might be calling, no matter what time it is, no matter if he is sleeping or not, he always picks up the phone, always. So this is only another sign for you, a sign that something isnât right.Â
âHey.âÂ
You flinch, not at the thunder that just struck, but at Eddieâs voice, his eyes are filled with pity as they flicker back and forth between the receiver in your hand and your face.Â
âMaybe heâs sleeping, he always does when he has migraines,â Eddie shrugs.Â
You know he is trying to make you feel better, to take your anxiety and your anxious thoughts away from you but nothing, absolutely nothing will do but you donât want to ruin his mood or anyone elseâs so you put the receiver back and you go over to the fridge, reaching for a soda instead of a beer this time.Â
You donât want to be here, not anymore, you want to be with him, you want to check on him, see if heâs okay but the gnawing feeling in your chest makes you stay.Â
The storm that rages outside taking over your mind as well as the questions in your mind grow louder and louder.Â
âCome on,â you mumble without looking back, not baring to see the pity in his eyes any longer.Â
Your best friend follows you without a word, making his way back into the living room with you.Â
You smile at Max and sit down beside her, trying to distract yourself by talking to the girl but itâs not that easy, not when worry continues to rise in you, not even when Eddie sits down on the other side of you and tries to talk to you about anything but him.Â
For the following hour, you feel restless. Scratch that, restless is an understatement, you are panicking. Eddie tries to comfort you, tries to take your mind off things by playing a drinking game with everyone else, laughing when El tries out beer for the first time, and sends the can flying without touching it in disgust. Not even that could take your mind away from the boy that occupies every second of your life now⌠and thereâs a person in this party that knows exactly what is going on and is acting as if she doesnât, drinking her fifth margarita of the night and smiling, talking with Jonathan.Â
You reach a tipping point.Â
âFuck this shit, Eddie.âÂ
You slam your drink on the table, marching towards Robin and Jonathan while Eddie scrambles desperately behind you, trying to stop you. He had never seen you like this before. You are so determined, pushing through it all, just for the sake of knowing about Steveâs whereabouts. But he too is intrigued. He knows Robin knows something⌠but his chest compresses when he remembers the night before, hoping that it didn't have anything to do with what was happening right this second.Â
He doesnât want to be the cause of your pain. He hopes he isnât.Â
You stop in front of Robin with a frown on your face, not even apologizing for interrupting her conversation with Jonathan, for stopping her mid-sentence.Â
âI need to talk to you.â
Jonathan looks up at you, a little surprised at the seriousness on your face and your sharp voice. He looks over your shoulder, glancing at Eddie who shakes his head at him, he only raises his eyebrows in response, he turns away and sips on his drink, walking towards Nancy.Â
Robin clenches her jaw, she meets your eyes and stares at you for a moment, glaring back at you.Â
You stand your ground, not looking away, not moving, not asking but demanding for her to follow you when you tilt your head in the direction of the kitchen before you walk off.Â
Eddie looks around, relieved to see everyone busy with the monopoly game that Dustin brought.Â
Robin gets up with a grunt, slamming her drink on the table just the way you did, she shoots a glare at Eddie before she turns around and walks after you with Eddie hot on her heels.Â
Youâre standing there with your arms crossed, your heart pounding in your chest and your anxiety burning by now.Â
Robin mimics you when she walks in, crossing her arms over her chest as well, she looks you up and down before she shrugs at you.Â
Eddie, who is already looking between the two of you nervously, closes the door, not wanting the others to hear but hoping that an argument wonât break out between you both.Â
âWhat do you want?â Robin grumbles at you, her words slurring.Â
You canât lie and say that her glares, her dislike towards you, doesnât sting a little but this isnât the main focus now.Â
âWhere is Steve?âÂ
âI already told youââ
âI donât fucking believe you, Robin!â You snap at the girl, throwing your arms up, âyouâve been lying to me from the moment you stepped into this house! I know he isnât feeling sick, I know he doesnât have a migraine, he wouldâve told me! I saw him this morning, he wanted to come so donât stay here and lie to my face! Tell me where he is and why heâs not picking up his damn phone!âÂ
Already breathing heavily after your little outburst, you stare at her in desperation, wanting, needing answers.Â
Her gaze never changes though, it doesnât soften, itâs still filled with dislike, and her lips curl downwards.Â
âHe doesnât want to see you anymore,â she shrugs, throwing those words out as though they mean nothing.Â
You would have believed her, if you werenât so determined, if you werenât so set on everything, you would have believed her. This would have worked on you months back but not now, not anymore, not after last night, not after this morning, and even if he did want that, he wouldnât leave you in the dark like this.Â
Eddie furrows his brows, looking at Robin who is so obviously lying yet again.Â
âI donât believe you, Robin.â You shake your head at her, stepping towards her. âI donât believe you for a second.â
She blinks, eyes darting back and forth between you and your best friend before she redirects her glare at you.Â
âWhy do you even care so much? You can get dick elsewhere, Blondie! Leave him alone and donât mess with him anymore, I think you have done enough!âÂ
Your eyes widen at the words that took a blow to your chest, your throat tightens and you shake your head in disbelief.Â
You have done enough?Â
What could you possibly have done?Â
Eddie squints his eyes at the drunk girl before him, and he steps closer to the both of you.Â
âWhy doesnât Harrington want to see her anymore, Buckley?â He asks carefully.Â
Robin takes a deep breath and sighs, mumbling incoherent words under her breath, she runs her fingers through her short hair and tilts her head up, chuckling at the ceiling though not in amusement.Â
And then she suddenly looks at you with the deepest frown you had ever seen in her features, a fire burning in her eyes as she sneers at you.Â
âBecause she is just going to break his heart sooner or later! She doesnât feel anything for him!â She yells, pointing a finger at you. âSheâs been playing with him from the fucking start, with his feelings and he is already suffering. Iâm not gonna let her do worse!âÂ
You draw back, with your eyes wide and your face stunned, you donât know what to say, you donât know what to feel.Â
The storm is raging outside just as the one in this kitchen is, itâs thundering at full blast and raining harshly but nothing fazes you now, not even the purple lightning.Â
It takes you a moment, a long moment to realize the meaning behind her words and the moment they sink in fully, you feel the aching inside of you.
âW-What did you just say?âÂ
Eddie frowns at her, blinking as he looks at her, âBuckley⌠you told me Harrington didnât feel anythingâŚâ
You glance at your best friend, confused about his words too, and youâre about to ask but Robin isnât done just yet.Â
âWhy does that matter!? Why does she fucking care how he feels?â She points at you again, taking a deep breath before she continues, âshe never did, never have, never will! She always treated him poorly, even in high school for fucks sake and you want me to believe that she feels something for him!?â
Heat spreads through your whole body, to your chest and your throat, to your face and lighting up everything inside of you in the worst way possible, making your skin tingle with rage and your eyes burn with tears.Â
You donât even think before you step towards her and grab her shoulders, pushing her up against the wall behind her, catching both her and Eddie off guard as you let your anger take over.Â
âYou donât get to fucking dictate my own feelings! I always thought you were stupidly observant but now I realize you are dense with anything else around you besides two people! You are ignorant towards everyone else, never giving anyone the benefit of the doubt!â
Robin stares at you wide eyed, not knowing what to say or do.Â
âIf you looked at me, even for just one second you would have known how much I care for him. If you had given me that chance you would have seen just how much I feel for him! If you had even looked at me back in high school you would have seen that I have been hiding and suppressing these feelings for him, for fucking years!âÂ
âIââ
You shake your head at her, shutting her up with a simple glare.Â
Tears blur your vision, your heart is pounding in your chest as you look at someone you once considered a friend.Â
You donât know what she said to him, what words she used to make him stay away but you donât even know if you do want to know, rage runs deep enough already.Â
âAnd you think I am this cold hearted bitch, well news fucking flash, Buckley, you never got to know me at all, so you have no right to say that! You have no right to judge my own heart!âÂ
Robinâs blue eyes shine with tears, her features now softening and twisting into regret as realization dawns on her.Â
Eddie stands there in shock, not knowing how to be of help.Â
âSo⌠you⌠for Steveââ Robin stutters, whispering.Â
Your bottom lip trembles as hot tears fall from your eyes, the excitement that lingered in you all day has turned into fear. You donât know where he is, what he thinks, what he feels now that this has been ruined, if there is still a chance for you to fix something you didnât even break.Â
But even through all this, you now know that there is, there was a chance. She wouldnât hate you over nothing, she wouldnât feel so protective of him if there were no feelings involved.Â
Fear envelopes your heart so fully and strongly that it nearly paralyzes you.Â
What if itâs done?
What if itâs over now?
You tremble and your tears cascade down your face, you donât bother to hide them, to wipe them away, to hide your pain from the one who caused it.Â
You breathe in shakily and step away from her, finally letting go of her.Â
âThere is no way in hell you will be the first to hear those words coming out of my mouth. I wonât say it out loud for the first time unless it is with him.âÂ
Those are your last words to Robin before you turn on your heel and walk away from her and from your best friend, who doesnât even try to stop you.Â
With tears rolling down your cheeks and an anxious heart, you rush out of the kitchen and through the empty hallway, you grab your jacket and the keys to Billyâs car, not even bracing yourself before you walk straight into the storm, not caring about your pounding heart when thunder crashes above you and the wind blows strongly against you as the rain envelopes you on your way to the car, wetting through your clothes and sending shivers down your spine.Â
You jump into the car with your hair clinging to your face already, rain and tears mingling together and running down your hot cheeks. You try to blink your tears away but to no avail, they keep building up and falling, your throat tightening more and more each passing second as a sob threatens to fall from your lips.Â
You start the car and grab the steering wheel, sniffling as you hold onto it tightly, breathing in the air around you, clutching your hand around the leather as though youâre trying to find comfort in something that used to belong to the person that always encouraged you to fight for this, for him.Â
Everything inside of you is crumbling now, to pieces, to shambles.Â
You look at the sky and you do something you have never done before, you beg, you beg for that one thing to work out, you would fall to your knees if you had to. You canât lose this, you canât lose him.Â
You back out of Eddieâs driveway and slam your foot against the accelerator causing the tires to screech as you speed down the road.Â
Your hands are trembling just the way your whole body does, your ears are ringing, the rain that paddles down the windows matching your tears.Â
Her words echo in your mind, all the hurtful things she said about you donât even come close to the pain you feel when you think about him.Â
You never wanted him to hurt, not for a single second.Â
You would have taken all the pain just to protect him from it all, knowing that he is aching because of you, brings a deeper pain to you than ever before and you donât know how he will react to seeing you, if he even wants to see you now but you are willing to try and you are willing to fight.Â
You can almost feel a little shock coming through the leather of the steering wheel. Something that wants to prompt you into letting go and finally park in front of his house. Something that is pushing you into being strong, to fight, to finally jump over the hole to reach the other side. Itâs almost as if you could hear the wordsâŚ
You can do it sweetsâŚ
Steveâs car is in the driveway, the TV light flickers through the living room window, he is here, he is home and you donât waste any more time, you park the car behind his, you jump out and back into the cold rain.Â
The water splashes beneath your sneakers, the thunder makes you flinch this time but you clench your fists and rush towards his house, ringing the bell and slamming your fist against the door over and over again, yelling his name.Â
You feel the hotness from your tears and the shaking of your lips, not because of the cold rain but because of the emotions bleeding through you.Â
You wait and you wait, fearing that he might not open, that he canât even stand to see you anymore, that he wonât give you the chance to talk, to tell him how you really feel.Â
You slam your fist against the door again, knocking a few times as broken sniffles fall from you while the storm rages behind you.Â
What must be a few seconds that youâre waiting out here, standing in the pouring rain, feels like forever.Â
Your heart beats against your ribcage, the coil in your throat beginning to choke you and you canât even see through your blurry vision anymore. You taste the saltiness from your tears, you feel the panic sinking deeper and deeper.Â
Youâre still begging and it takes everything in you not to crumble to your knees.Â
And then, Steve opens the door with bloodshot eyes, a piercing gaze that threatens your hope, that threatens your resolve.Â
A gaze that says âitâs done.â
Youâre both done.

Steve never liked horror movies.Â
He didnât like them before the Upside Down and he definitely doesnât like them now when he spends most of his time worrying and waiting for the next supernatural shoe to drop. Thereâs no reason why he would want to spend two hours peeking through his fingers at a screen and anticipating the next jumpscare on top of that.
Occasionally, he will let Robin or one of the kidsâ or lately, Eddie tooâ convince him to watch one. They might have gone through the same horrors as Steve, but somehow theyâre not bothered by these movies at all. At least when Robin is around sheâll let Steve hold her hand, which has gotten him through worse things than movies about aliens or monsters or psychopathic killers.Â
That is the only reason Steve agreed to go to the movies tonight.
âWho are you kidding, dingus?â Robin snorts when Steve tells her as much. Sheâs sitting in the passenger seat of the Beemer as Steve drives them both to The Hawk to meet Eddie and Nancy. âYou agreed to come because you canât say no to Eddie and his big Bambi eyes!âÂ
Steve sputters indignantly. âWhat? Yes, I can!â
Robin rolls her eyes. âSteve, I told you I wanted to watch this movie weeks ago and you kept brushing me off. You only said yes when Eddie pouted and complained that no one wanted to watch it with him!âÂ
Steve waves her off. âI wouldâve said yes to you eventually.âÂ
âBut you didnât,â Robin says, poking Steveâs side and making him yelp. âYou said yes to your boyââ
âHeâs not my boy,â Steve huffs, trying to ignore the heat creeping up his neck at the words.Â
Robin ignores him and keeps teasing him. âYou said yes to him because you love himââ she says, dragging the word love and making obnoxious kissing noises.Â
âChrist, what are you? Five?â Steve protests, pinching the bridge of his nose while he waits for the red light to turn green. Robin keeps making those kissing noises, making Steve groan. âUgh, shut up. Or Iâll shove you out of the car and youâll have to walk the rest of the way.âÂ
Robin huffs. âIf you do that youâll have to explain to Nancy that you abandoned me in the middle of nowhere,â she says, sticking her tongue out at him. If she keeps up acting like a child theyâre not going to let her in to see this movie.Â
âWeâre like, four blocks away,â Steve says, pointing ahead where the sign for The Hawk comes into view. âThatâs hardly the middle of nowhere.âÂ
But they both know he wonât do it anywayâ not even a horror movie sounds scarier than having to tell Nancy he left Robin to walk the streets of Hawkins alone at night.Â
So he finds them a parking spot instead, a few blocks away from The Hawk so by the time they walk up to the entrance itâs exactly 7 pm. They agreed to meet up at that time, meaning Nancy is already thereâand probably has been for a whileâand Eddie is nowhere to be seen.Â
As soon as she sees Nancy, Robin leaves Steveâs side and runs up to her, wrapping her arms around Nancyâs shoulders to hug her. Nancy stumbles back a few steps, taken by surprise but then she smiles and wraps her arms around Robinâs waist, returning the hug.Â
As Steve approaches, he hears Robin rambling with her arms still around her. âHey, Nancy! I hope you havenât been waiting for long, I told Steve we were gonna be late but he still took forever to fix his hair. And I was like âdingus weâre going to be in a dark room for the better part of two hours, no need to fuss about it so much!â but you know Steve. Duh, you dated him, of course you do. I think he just wanted to look good forââ she pauses, pulling back to look around them and make sure theyâre alone, ââfor Eddie, which is silly, yâknow? Have you seen Eddieâs hair? He does not care about hair care routines and stuff!â
âI shouldâve made you walk,â Steve mutters, feeling his blush tinting his cheeks pink again. Nancy stifles a chuckle behind her hand and Steve waves at her. âHey, Nance.â
âHi, Steve. Your hair looks good,â she says with a tiny smirk that makes Robin cackle loudly and makes Steve roll his eyes. She turns back to Robin, âAnd I havenât been waiting long, I just got here.âÂ
Robin throws some finger guns at her. âCool,â she says, âShould we get the tickets?âÂ
âWe still have to wait for Eddie,â Steve interjects, looking around for any sign of Eddieâs van or Eddie himself.Â
âYou can wait for your boy,â Robin says with a smirk, âand Nance and I will get the tickets!âÂ
Steve lets out a long-suffering groan. âFor the last time, Robin, heâs not my boy.â
Once again, she ignores him and holds her palm up at him. âMoney, please.â
Steve sighs, pulling his wallet from his jeans and handing her a few bills, enough for four tickets.Â
âThanks!â She says, whirling around and hooking her arm with Nancyâs, dragging her towards the ticket booth and leaving Steve to wait for Eddie alone. Â
He entertains himself by kicking a plastic bottle back and forth. He keeps his eyes on the ground as he does so he doesnât notice Eddie approachingâ not until he jumps on Steveâs back, wrapping an arm around his neck in a chokehold.
âGot ya, Harrington!â Eddie yells in Steveâs ear as Steve stumbles with the added weight but manages to find his balance before they both end up on the ground.
âChrist,â Steve mutters, trying to wiggle out of Eddieâs hold while he laughs like a maniac. âEddie, get off, man!âÂ
âAs His Majesty commands,â Eddie giggles, jumping off Steveâs back and sweeping down in a dramatic bow when Steve turns around to face him.Â
Steveâs hands land on his hips. âYou couldnât just say hello like a normal person?âÂ
âThat, my dear Stevie, would require that I was normal, and as the Hawkins population so graciously accused me of, I amââ he pauses for dramatic effect, ââa freak.â
Steve lets out a snort. âYouâre late, thatâs what you are,â he says and Eddie gives a dismissive wave. âThe girls went inside to get the tickets.â
Eddie gasps, his eyes sparkling under the streetlights. âAnd you waited for me, sweetheart?â He asks, placing both of his hands over his heart. Steveâs cheeks pink up at the pet name. âYou shouldnât have!âÂ
âNoted,â Steve smirks. He bumps his shoulder against Eddieâs, jerking his head towards the entrance. âCâmon, theyâre waiting.â
Eddie falls into step beside Steve as he starts walking to where Robin and Nancy are whispering and giggling about something.
Robin notices them first. âEddie!âÂ
âLady Buckley,â Eddie greets her with a little royal twist of the hand, then repeats the motion in Nancyâs direction. âLady Wheeler.âÂ
âHey, Eddie,â Nancy says, playing along with a curt nod. âGlad you could make it.âÂ
âLate as usual,â Robin says, rolling her eyes good-naturedly.Â
âTime is nothing but a social construct, Birdie.â
âTell that to the movie starting in fifteen minutes,â Steve says, checking his watch. âWe should head in. Câmon, Eds, Iâll buy you popcorn.âÂ
Eddie gives him a lopsided grin. âYou sure know your way into a manâs heart, Harrington.âÂ
âDo I get popcorn too?â Robin asks with a knowing smile.Â
Steve flicks her on the forehead. âDude, I already paid for your ticket.â
âYou also paid for Eddieâs!â She argues, crossing her arms over her chest petulantly. âWhy does he get popcorn and I donât?â
Steve glances at Eddie and finds him staring back at him with wide eyes, a strand of hair tugged in front of his face. Steve doesnât know what heâs supposed to sayâ other than tell Robin to shut up.Â
But before he can, Nancy, bless her soul, jumps in. âHey, Robin,â she says, putting her hands on Robinâs shoulders so she can steer her away. âIâll get you popcorn, okay?â
Robin lets Nancy guide her away, narrowing her eyes at Steve over her shoulder one last time.
Steve lets out a puff of air.Â
He feels Eddie bump his shoulder. âHey, I- I can get my popcorn, man. And I can pay for my ticket too,â he says a little awkwardly. âI donât wanna get you in trouble with Buckley.â
âNo way, Eds,â Steve is quick to say, bumping his shoulder right back. âItâs on me.â
Eddie offers him a shy little smile. âWell, Iâll get the next one then.â
Steve nods, stomach fluttering at the thought of doing this again with Eddieâ maybe just the two of them next time. âSure, as long as you donât drag me here for another crappy horror movie.âÂ
âStevie, Stevie, Stevie,â Eddie says, shaking his head. âThis isnât a crappy horror movie! Itâs supposed to be the best one of the year, I guarantee youâll be scared.âÂ
Yeah, thatâs precisely what Steve is worried about. He tries not to grimace at that.Â
As long as you sit next to Robin, youâll be fine, he thinks to himself.Â
To Eddie, he says, âWhatever you say, Eds.â
They join the girls at the concession stand where Steve and Nancy get large popcorn bowls to share with Eddie and Robin, sodas for each of them, and Steve also asks for some gummy worms because he knows Eddie will put too much butter on their popcorn, get sick of it halfway through and will want to eat something sweet.Â
As soon as the kid slides the bag of gummy worms over the counter, Steve puts it in his pocket. He doesnât want Robin to see them and call him out on that too. Â
He hands the popcorn to Eddie who, as expected, soaks it with butter, earning horrified looks from everyone around them, including Steve. Though Steveâs expression might also be overly affectionate.Â
âHey, donât forget the napkins for your gross buttery fingers,â Steve tells him when Eddie deems their popcorn soggy enough and waits for him to grab a handful of napkins before they follow Nancy and Robin.Â
âWhy do you care if I have buttery fingers, hm?â Eddie asks, getting all up in Steveâs space. A few popcorn kernels fall on the carpet from Eddie moving so much. âPlanning to hold my hand in there or something?âÂ
And Steve isnâtâ heâs planning to hold Robinâs, but the thought of holding Eddieâs hand instead makes his heart stutter in his chest, pink tinting his cheeks.
âYou wish, Munson,â he says, picking up the pace to catch up with the girls and walk into the dark movie theater, hoping it will help hide his blush from Eddie.Â
âOh, but I do, Stevie, every night,â Eddie says, following him with a shit-eating grin.Â
Itâs relatively empty inside and the four of them head straight to the back rows where Steve ends up sitting between Eddie and Robin, with Nancy on her other side.Â
While they wait for the movie to start, Eddie leans over to whisper in Steveâs ear what critics are saying about the movie, what heâs most excited to see, what the scariest parts are supposed to be. Someone else might find it annoyingâ to have Eddie loudly chewing popcorn right next to their ear and talking about the movie theyâre about to seeâ but Steve loves hearing Eddie talk, and maybe knowing whatâs going to happen in the movie will help ease his nerves a bit.
Eddie doesnât stop talking until the opening credits start to appear, settling back on his seat with a happy little squeal.Â
Cute, Steve thinks as an idea occurs to him. Maybe if he focuses on Eddie instead of the screen it wonât be so bad.Â
And so for the first thirty minutes of the movie, Steve keeps his attention on Eddie with the occasional glance at the screen to not be too obviousâ even if Eddie is unlikely to notice since his eyes wonât leave the screen, barely blinking as he shoves handfuls of popcorn into his mouth. Halfway through, just like Steve predicted, Eddie shoves the popcorn towards him, buttery lips scrunched up. He downs his soda as he tries to wash away the taste of salt and butter before using the napkins to wipe his fingers.Â
He glances away from the screen for the first time since the movie started when Steve nudges him with his elbow and holds out the gummy worms.Â
Eddieâs eyes widen and then he gives Steve a slightly awed look. âThanks, Stevie,â he whispers, grabbing the bag.Â
Steve just winks at him, and when Eddie faces forward again, Steve thinks he can see a pink flush high on his cheeks thanks to the glow coming from the screen.Â
Pleased, Steve finishes the popcorn and his soda, setting everything on the floor to pick up later and sitting back to stare at Eddie a bit more, paying little to no attention to the screen.Â
Thatâs when bad things start to happen in the movie.Â
Shoulders tense and heart hammering in his chest, Steve does his best to not glance at the screen but even then thereâs no way to block out the screams or the other disturbing noises. When he looks at Eddie, he actually seems excited about the horrific, gruesome scenes taking place. On Steveâs other side, Robin and Nancy seem mostly unbothered, though Robinâs nose keeps scrunching up at times. Theyâre all handling it better than Steve isâ fingers digging into his legs, eyes screwed shut, breathing in and out as he tries to calm down.Â
Steve makes the mistake of opening his eyes and accidentally glancing at the screen just as some awful monster jumps at them, almost giving Steve a heart attack. His hand leaves his lap to grab Robinâs hand, needing physical comfort.Â
It takes him a few seconds to realize that, while the hand he just wrapped his fingers around is thin and bony like Robinâs, itâs also bigger and uncharacteristically cold. Steve glances down at it with a frown and realizes that the reason why itâs so cold is the multiple rings adorning the fingersâ fingers that donât belong to Robin.Â
Because Steve reached out with the wrong hand and grabbed Eddieâs instead.Â
Fuck.
He glances away from their hands and finds Eddie already looking at him. Steve knows he must look like a startled deer, but instead of the teasing expression he expects to see on Eddieâs face, his eyebrows are knitted in concern.Â
âYou okay, Steve?â Eddie asks softly, leaning into Steveâs space even though the noises coming from the speakers are enough to drown out their voices.Â
âNot really, but um, I didnât mean to do that, sorry, I thought I reached for Robin,â Steve nervously stammers out. He manages to get his scrambled brain cells working and lets go of Eddieâs fingersâ but before Steve can fully retrieve his hand, Eddie flips his hand over, trapping Steveâs there.
Steve blinks at him.
âDoes it help? Holding someoneâs hand?â Eddie asks and Steve nods dumbly. âOkay, then.âÂ
And so Eddie slides his fingers through the spaces between Steveâs fingers, intertwining their hands.
Steve looks down at them, blinking repeatedly, expecting them to disappear. âEds, you donât have toââ
âShhh, Iâm happy to,â Eddie says, squeezing his hand. Steveâs breath catching in his throat. âDonât you worry, big boy. Iâll protect you,â he adds with a wink.Â
Steve knows Eddie is trying to lighten up the mood but he doesnât laugh it off because the truth is that he does feel safer like this, more relaxed. He gives Eddie a small smile. âOkay.âÂ
âI guess itâs a good thing you made me grab those napkins, huh?â Eddie says, and this time, Steve does laugh, though he muffles it behind his other hand so hopefully the girls canât hear it. He doesnât need them glancing over and noticing their handsâ Steve is already blushing enough as it is.Â
After that, Eddie turns his attention back to the screen but Steve keeps his eyes on their hands for a while, taking advantage of the glow coming from the screen to study each of Eddieâs rings, his chipped nail polish, the tattoo on the side of his wrist, the scar from a demobat bite in the back of his hand.Â
When he glances back at the screen, the worst of the movie seems to be over and heâs able to push through the remaining and significantly less scary scenes by squeezing Eddieâs hand and feeling Eddie squeeze right back.Â
At one point, Robin glances at him, probably to check on him and her eyes end up on their held hands, a loud gasp slipping past her lips.Â
Steve whips his head at her and meets her bulging eyes. She mouths her words at himâ âOh my God!â
âI know!â Steve mouths right back.
Because this mightâve started with Eddie being a good friend and comforting Steve, but as the movie droned on, it started to feel less like thatâ it started to feel like more. The way Eddie started rubbing his thumb over Steveâs hand, the way he blushed when Steve started to play with one of his rings, the way they both kept glancing at the other and smiling almost shyly. Steveâs heart hasnât stopped jackhammering against his ribcage at the thought of all of this meaning something.Â
But they canât address any of that right now and Robin seems to realize that, so after giving Steve a dorky thumbs up, she turns her attention back to the movie.Â
Steve does the same. On the screen, those who survived are being rescued and Steve can breathe a little easier. Before he knows it, the end credits start rolling up and Steve finally fully relaxes.Â
He expects Eddie to let go of his hand right away but to Steveâs surprise, he doesnât. Without letting go, Eddie leans over Steve to ask the girls what they thought about the movie.Â
âI probably couldâve lived without seeing that many guts,â Robin says, her nose scrunching up.Â
At the same time as Nancy says, âOh, it was good!âÂ
Steve stares at her, dumbfounded, but Nancy has always been the bravest out of all of them.Â
âHell yeah, Wheeler!â Eddie whoops, reaching over with the hand not currently holding Steveâs to give her a high five.Â
Nancy returns it with an amused chuckle. If she notices Eddieâs other hand intertwined with Steveâs, she doesnât show it. âWhat about you, Steve? What did you think?âÂ
âI think Iâm never letting the kids rent this fucking movie,â he says with a scoff.
Eddie throws his head back with a laugh, loud and full-bellied. Itâs a good thing that the movie is over because the sound reverberates around the rapidly emptying room.
Next to Steve, Robin snorts. âYou know Dustin is just gonna convince Eddie to rent it for him, right?âÂ
âLies and slander!â Eddie protests. âI would never corrupt the youth like that!â He says, pulling his hand and Steveâs towards his chest, clutching it as he plays the to offended part. Well, if Nancy didnât notice they were holding hands before she sure did now.Â
âYou would,â Robin says with a shake of her head, âYou have.â
âI resent that, Buckley.â
âSheâs right, Eds. Max told me you let her try beer last week,â Steve says, voice shaking slightly from Eddie keeping their hands on his chest, letting Steve feel his heartbeat.Â
It stutters at Steveâs words and his eyes go wide. âThat little snitch! Okay, it was one sip and she was blackmailing me!âÂ
Nancy raises her eyebrow. âWith what?â
Eddieâs cheeks go pink and he averts his gaze, his eyes darting to Steve for a second before focusing on the rips in his jeans, tugging at them. âUm, nothing. All Iâm saying is those little shits are menaces. Theyâll find a way to watch the movie, yâknow?â
âWell, god-fucking-speed to them,â Steve grumbles, âIâm never watching that shit again.â
Eddie leans close. âNot even if I agree to hold your hand, sweetheart?â He asks, his voice low and accompanied by a squeeze of his hand.Â
Steve flushesâ from Eddieâs voice in his ear, his hand still on his, the thought of holding it like this again. He opens his mouth and closes it, he wants to say no but heâs afraid the word will come out will be an embarrassingly eager yes.Â
Luckily, he doesnât have to say anything because Nancy speaks up. âYou guys ready to go?âÂ
They all nod and set about picking up their trash, which means Eddie finally has to let go of Steveâs hand. He tries not to look too disappointed by that but probably fails. As they start making their way out of the room, Eddie and Nancy fall into step together, engaging in conversation about their opinions on the movie, which in Eddieâs case includes a dramatic reenactment of his favorite parts. Â
Steve and Robin are a few steps behind and Steve watches Eddie as he gestures wildly and makes weird noises and even falls to the ground at one point, pretending to die like one of the characters in the movie. Nancy laughs and helps him up and Steve feels a wave of affection for Eddie so strong he nearly doubles over with it.Â
âUgh,â Robin groans next to him. âTone down the heart-eyes, dingus, itâs gross and I literally just saw someoneâs insides explode.âÂ
âFuck off, Robs,â Steve says, shoving her lightly, his cheeks dusted pink. She stumbles before crowding against Steve again, a bounce in her step.Â
âNope, you still have to tell me how you two ended up holding hands.â
Steve hangs a hand from his neck, wishing he could say he pulled it off by being smooth or something. God, he used to have game. âUh, the movie was a lot and I accidentally reached for his hand instead of yours.â
Robin throws her head back with a loud cackle. âOh Steve,â she says, holding onto Steveâs shoulder as she laughs. âYouâre lucky youâre pretty.â
âHey!â
At Steveâs protest, Robin shrugs. âWhat? I called you pretty!â
Eddie comes bouncing over. âOhhh, are we calling Steve pretty? Can I join?â He asks, throwing his arm over Steveâs shoulders. Robin meets Steveâs eyes and waggles her eyebrows. If Steve wasnât trapped against Eddieâs side he would pinch her arm.Â
âNo, sheâs just being annoying,â Steve says and Robin sticks her tongue out at him.Â
âDoesnât mean she isnât right, pretty boy,â Eddie says, dropping his head to Steveâs shoulder and looking up at him, eyelashes fluttering. Steve goes warm all over. He ducks his head, unable to keep a dopey smile from stretching over his lips.Â
Robin clears her throatâ she and Nancy are trying not to smirk as they look between the two of them.Â
Steve squirms. âUm, you ready to go, Robs?âÂ
âActually,â Robin says, exchanging a look with Nancy. âNance is giving me a ride home.â
Steveâs eyebrows knit together. âWhat? Why?â He asks. âIs it because I threatened to push you out of the car and make you walk?â Next to him, Eddie lets out an amused snort.Â
Robin waves him off. âNo, itâs because um- she left a book! At my house last week! And she needs it back tonight, right Nance?â
Nancyâs eyes widen almost imperceptibly. âOh, yes, itâs a very important book.â
Steve narrows their eyes at them. Heâs not buying any of it. âRight.â
âYeah! So Iâll see you tomorrow at work,â she tells Steve then to Eddie she says, âAnd Iâll see you, well, probably tomorrow at work too when you inevitably show up to annoy me and Steve.â
Eddie grins, wiping a fake tear. âOh Buckley, you know me so well.â
âYeah, yeah, sometimes I wish I knew you less,â she says but the corners of her mouth are turned upwards.Â
Eddie lets go of Steve so he can give Robin a quick hug. Then she throws her arms around Steveâs shoulders. âCall me when you get home and tell me everything,â she whispers in his ear and Steve frowns.Â
He already told her about the hand holding and thatâs pretty much it. He doesnât know what she thinks will happen between Eddie and him when they say goodbye right here in the middle of the street, but he nods anyway.
They each get a hug from Nancy too and then she leads Robin away towards her car. âBye, boys! Miss you already!â Robin says, waving enthusiastically at them.Â
Steve wiggles his fingers at her and Eddie gives her a two-fingered salute, both of them chuckling in amusement.Â
âUm, I guess Iâll see you tomorrow?â Steve says when itâs just the two of them and a few other moviegoers trickling out of the cinema. He can see Eddieâs van parked just across the street while his own car is a few blocks away.Â
âNope, Stevie, Iâm walking you to your car,â Eddie says with a wink. âFor protection, of course.â
âYou know I keep a nailbat in my trunk, right?â Steve asks with a raised eyebrow. Heâs over the movie by now, not worried about some creature jumping him on his way to his carâ not more than usual at least.
Eddie shrugs. âMy protection then.â
âIf you insist,â Steve says with a chuckle.
They start walking towards Steveâs car, the street getting darker and quieter the further away they get from The Hawk. Their shoulders keep bumping together, the back of their fingers brushing with how close theyâre walking. Every time it happens, Steve wants to grab Eddieâs hand and hold it again.Â
âHey, um, sorry I dragged you to this movie,â Eddie says after a short silence.Â
Steve glances at him and finds Eddie looking at him shyly. âYou didnât drag me,â he says, nudging Eddie with his elbow. âI said yes.â
âBut why? If you hate horror movies so much.âÂ
âI like hanging out with you,â he says and Eddieâs eyes widen almost imperceptively. âAnd I had fun justâ not during the movie. Though holding your hand wasnât so bad.â
Eddie chuckles, ducking his head. âMediocre hand holding is what Iâm best at,â he jokes. âAnd Iâm glad you said yes, you know I love my Stevie time, but maybe next time you can pick the movie.âÂ
âYou mean next time we come here with Robin and Nancy?â
Eddie bites his lip, side-eyeing Steve. âSure, yeah, or yâknow just the two of us, if thatâs a thing youâd want to do.â
His voice is small and heâs anxiously playing with his fingers and with a start, Steve realizes that Eddie is nervous. Cute, Steve thinks.
He tilts his head. âLike a date?âÂ
Thereâs a sharp intake of breath and then Eddie is grabbing some hair and tugging it in front of his face, but Steve still sees the way his cheeks turn red. He mumbles, âUm, yeah?â
Butterflies explode in Steveâs stomach then and he feels a dopey smile stretching over his lips. Eddieâs eyes go wide, looking hopeful at Steveâs expression. He spits the hair from his mouth, revealing a small smile tugging at his lips. âHow about next Friday?â Steve asks.
A disbelieving laugh tumbles from Eddieâs lips. âReally?â When Steve nods, Eddie lets out a cute little yelp at the confirmation. âFriday it is,â he says. His eyes get a little twinkle in them. âDo I need to pretend to be scared so youâll hold my hand?âÂ
âNope,â he says, and after looking around and making sure theyâre alone in the street, Steve finally reaches over and grabs Eddieâs hand, intertwining their fingers like Eddie did in the movies.Â
Eddieâs mouth makes a little âoâ shape as he blinks down at them, color rising in his cheeks.Â
Steve tugs on his hand to get him walking again, pressed together to hide their hands between them even if itâs dark and thereâs no one around.
Sooner than either of them wouldâve liked, they reach the Beemer. âHere we are,â Steve says, leaning back against the car, their hands dangling in the space between them. âAnd we didnât even need my nailbat.âÂ
âYou know thatâs not the only reason why I walked you to your car, right?âÂ
Steveâs eyebrows go up as he feigns shock. âYou mean you didnât actually expect us to get attacked by slimy monsters with razor-like teeth?â
âNope,â Eddie says, stepping closer until heâs pressed against Steveâs body, pushing him against the car. âNot that Iâd be surprised in this fucked up town but no, um, I was also hoping Iâd get to do this.â
Steve opens his mouth to ask what he means by this but Eddie shuts him up by hesitantly grabbing Steveâs neck and leaning in, softly pressing his lips to Steveâs mouth, who gasps in surprise before the sound melts into a happy sigh. He lets go of Eddieâs hand so he can wrap his arms around Eddie, bringing him closer, tilting his head for a better angle so their lips move together more easily and he can taste butter and salt and the slightest hint of sugar. They keep the kiss short, knowing that despite the lack of street lights around them and the late hour, theyâre still in public.Â
When Eddie pulls back, his cheeks are bright pink and his eyes are sparkling, his smile giddy and so beautiful. Steve already wants to kiss him again.Â
âJesus Christ, Steve, donât look at me like that,â Eddie groans, and Steveâs eyes snap up from Eddieâs lips, where they darted to without Steve realizing it.
He blinks. âLike what?â
âLike you want toââ His hand slides through the air as he gestures aggressively, ââeat me or something. Iâm trying to be a gentleman here and not drag you into the backseat of your car.â
Steve smirks. âI wouldnât say no to that.â
âSteeeeeve,â Eddie whines.
âOkay, okay,â Steve says, holding his hands up with a laugh. He doesnât trust himself not to jump Eddie right now if he stays here any longer anyway. âGoodnight, Eds.âÂ
Eddieâs face softens. âGoodnight, sweetheart.âÂ
When neither of them moveâ Steve to get in the car and Eddie to go back to his vanâ Steve shoves him and sends Eddieâs clumsy ass stumbling back. âGo! Before monsters actually jump from the shadows and murder us.âÂ
âYouâd protect me though, wouldnât you, Stevie?â Eddie teases, batting his eyelashes at him.Â
âAlways,â Steve says, then makes shooing motions at him. âNow go.â
âYes, your Majesty, Iâm going,â Eddie says as he starts walkingâ backwards so he can look at Steve some more. Â
Steve blows a kiss at him, making Eddie trip over nothing and stumble, but he catches himself and he catches Steveâs kiss in his handâ and then makes out with his hand, making Steve scrunch up his nose and chuckle fondly at the same time.Â
He waits until Eddie turns around to get in his car, catching sight of his dopey smile on the rearview mirror as he adjusts it. But he canât help itâ he held hands with Eddie, heâs going on a date with him, he kissed him.Â
Turns out Steve does have a reason to call Robin when he gets home after all.Â

WIP excerpt for inkwell behind the cut; âBilly and Damian and the whole soulmate thingâ. (( chrono || non-chrono ))
Likeâexcept Robin, obviously. Robin doesnât deserve him being spiteful. Robin deserves, like, a nice wedding with Nightwing as his best man and Red Robin, like, definitely invited but maybe seated at a table off to the side behind a tactically-placed floral arrangement or twelve and also whatever Robin likes to eat on the menu, which Billy admittedly doesnât actually know yet and probably needs to figure out. Though then again, if heâs running away from the Justice League and/or Batmanâs weird seventeen-bedroomed house until heâs eighteen, Robinâs tastes are probably gonna change a bit, so maybe he should just wait on that so he can be sure heâs getting it right and all?Â
Ugh. Billy really doesnât wanna have to run away from the Justice League until heâs eighteen. Especially not Batman. Batmanâs really good at finding people, so heâs basically just gonna have to hide out at the Rock of Eternity for like the whole time, and that is so long and is gonna get so boring so quick.Â
Ugh. Ughhh. Ugh.Â
âWhere was that? Laws about supplying alcohol to a minor vary significantly from state to state,â Batman says as Flash slithers to the floor with an actual moan. Billy glowers at him. He is still not forgiving him just âcuz heâs funny. âAnd felony charges can apply to repeat offenders."
. . . alright, Batmanâs really funny. But still, dammit!Â
âBats, I really donât think accidentally buying a drink for a magically-disguised minor three years ago is the relevant concern here,â Green Lantern says in exasperation.Â
âYou said you took him to multiple bars,â Batman says, just barely tilting his head. âWas that the only time any of you bought him a drink?âÂ
âIâyouâhe looks like forty!â Green Lantern protests. Flash just stays on the floor.Â
Batman raises an eyebrow behind his mask, then looks over at Billy and looks him over; then looks back to Green Lantern with a very telling expression. Green Lantern sputters indignantly.Â
âStop being funny, asshole, Iâm still gonna be mad even if you are,â Billy grumbles at Batman, who just makes the same little âhmâ noise he always does when heâs feeling particularly smug about a joke heâs made. Billy scowls at him on principle.Â
Asshole. Geez, like Billyâs new here or something.Â
âFather, this is hardly professional behavior,â Robin says, giving Batman a withering look.Â
âGod, I will never understand what kids even think Bats is saying,â Green Arrow mutters under his breath, half-covering his face with a hand and eyeing Robin through his fingers. âListen, CapâBillyââÂ
âExcuse you?â Billy asks, scowling at him instead. âYou think weâre on a first-name basis while you guys are threatening me?âÂ
âListen, brat, I am also a licensed foster parent, and Star is closer to Fawcett than Gotham is, so I in fact am threatening you,â Green Arrow retorts, narrowing his eyes at him. âAnd thereâs eight bedrooms in my house.âÂ
âThat is not a house!â Billy says. âThatâs literally not a house, thatâs like a hotel! Why do none of you just have houses?!âÂ
âA motel, perhaps,â Robin drawls, eyeing Green Arrow disdainfully.Â
âI am not living with anyone, Iâm fine,â Billy emphasizes with a glower. âIâve been fine all this time, havenât I?â
â. . . Billy,â Superman says, looking stressed. âHow long have you been homeless, exactly?âÂ
âSince I was like seven,â Billy says, since he doesnât count any of the in-and-out foster care nonsense as not being homeless, considering. Thatâd just been a bunch of shitty places heâd had to sneak out of or run away from, not actually anywhere heâd ever really lived. Mostly heâd slept in abandoned buildings or alleys or parks, âcuz itâd been safer. âSo Iâm fine, obviously.âÂ
âSince you were seven,â Superman repeats, looking stressed.Â
âThatâs what I said,â Billy says in exasperation, folding his arms again and glowering at him. âAnd I didnât even have superpowers then and still took care of myself fine, so Iâm double-fine now, actually.âÂ
Superman puts his face in his hands, for some reason. Black Canary pats his back sympathetically.
Billy does not think Superman deserves sympathy right now.

Eddie Munson knows no one here.
The music is bad and the DJ is worse and heâs already regretting coming out in the first place.
Next to him, Chrissy Cunningham, his team lead is chatting with a freckled girl who introduces herself as âRobin something, legal assistant to the son-part of H&S Lawâ. Sheâs cute, but itâs in one ear, out the otherâand really, heâs pretty proud he even remembered her name to begin with because heâs only been here for a week and thereâs just so many goddamned people.
âYouâre so lucky to start just in time for the party,â Robin yells over the music. And Eddie nods, smiles unconvincingly and stares back at the bottom of his empty glass when Robin and Chrissy continue chattingâor maybe thatâs flirting?âwho even knows.
He watches them for a moment. Studies how pink and blue and green lights paint their hair and watches a blush spread across Robinâs face before he moves his gaze towards the crowd.
God, he needs another drink.
And thatâs the one good thing about these parties. Itâs open bar and they serve everything because H&S Law is fucking big and fucking loaded.
Eddie excuses himself. Works his way into the crowd of people dancing to music that transitions badlyâand yeah, heâs a music snob so sue him for caring about the the big fucking death-valley between songs. He must be the only one who cares though, because people are drunk as hellâŚ
Leading by example really.
Eddie canât wait to be shitfaced too, maybe make an ass of himself, who knows? Lifeâs too short to be a wallflower when thereâs free booze at what people call âthe happening of the yearâ.
Well, itâs happening alright.
Get drunk. Be stupid. Maybe get laid if heâs lucky.
âDrunk Eddieâ got his back for that last part and right nowâŚhe has a distinct lack of alcohol in his blood.
So he cuts the crowd, gets stuck several times, squeezes between bodies and gets a few dirty looks from girls once they see thereâs some random dude glued to their backs, but eventually, he makes it to the bar.
Leaning into it with one arm, heâs actually a little out of breath. Working up a light sweat too, which, frankly, is fucking embarrassing and he really should do something about that butâŚ
He looks at his reflection in the mirror behind the bar and heâŚugh. He looks bad. He quickly runs a hand through his hair, tries to get it presentable when the bartender obscures his view.
A little embarrassed, he asks for âsomething strongâ, then turns his back, leans against the bar as he watches.
People watching.
He likes that. Like a nature documentary kinda.
There stands the female. She presents her curves to a group of potential mates. The males look on with interestâthe biggest one, the alphaâsquares his shoulders, a classic move indicative of strength and sexual prowessâ
âYou new here?â
Eddie tears his eyes away. Turns towards the sound and thereâs a guy there holding a glass out to him.
Eddie takes it tentatively and the guy lets out a soft chuckle.
âBarkeep got your drink, like, two minutes ago. You were spaced. You drunk?â
âOh, uh, thanks,â Eddie pauses, âNot drunk, by the way. Not yet.â
The guy eyes him curiouslyâbrown eyes and brown hair and a carved kinda face.
Heâs handsome.
So fucking handsome and just his type so Eddie eyes him downâdoes so shamelessly.
Heâs wearing a white dress shirt and dark blue khakis, all proper and business-casual, andâŚyeah, he must be straight. No fucking doubt.
âHavenât seen you around before.â The guy tries again, and Eddie realizes he didnât answer his question like a real fucking jerk. But hereâs the thing, once he starts like thisâŚitâs kinda hard to stop andâwhatever. It doesnât really matter because heâs not getting into Mr. Straightâs pants soâŚ
The guy stares and Eddie hums. Takes a sip of his drinkâgoddamned whiskeyâand embraces whatever fuckery comes out of his mouth.
âFunny, because Iâve definitely seen you at my interview.â
Lies.
Absolute lies, but the way Handsome visibly palesâŚ
âWait, shit, are you for real?â
âYeah. Glad to hear I left an impression.â
Eddie takes another sip and savors the burn in his throat as he watches Handsome panic.
âFuck. Iâm so sorry, man. I see so many peopleââ
âItâs cool. âM Eddie.â He holds out his hands and Handsome shakes it with two fingers because heâs holding a glass in that hand.
Itâs stupidly endearing.
âSteve, but I guess you knew that already.â
âWell, Steve, nice to meet you again,â Eddie says and Steve winces and itâs so, so very fun.
God.
âI really am sorry, man. And Iâd totally buy you a round of drinks if they werenât free alreadyâŚâ Steve trails. He looks so apologeticâborderline pathetic, and itâs really doing something for him.
Straight or not, Steve and him could have some real fun tonight.
And yeah, heâs a bit tipsyânot drunk, not yetâso Eddie downs the last of his whiskey at a rate he knows will get him fucking smashed in the next 15 minutes or so and sets the glass down on the bar.
âHow about you treat me to a round of shots and weâll call it even.â
Steve smiles and that too is just soâŚugh. Itâs unfair.
âOh, youâre on,â Steve says, then calls the bartender over, raises four fingers while saying something Eddie canât quite hear over the music, but when the bartender returns, he puts down four shots of clear liquid and Eddie knows that, hell yeah, heâs about to have a real good time.

borrowing.
Steve wasn't a pervert.
Sure, he's done some unsavory things in his younger years that he's not proud of. But he's never been the type to take advantage of a woman. He's not like some of his guy friends who look down women's shirts or touched someone without their permission.
Call him a pussy or a feminist, but that shit makes him sick to his stomach.
And yet...
"Fuck your pussy tastes so good."
Steve pants against the crotch of your panties. The fabric hugs his face tight as he breathes in your scent, his nose tenting the cotton fabric. His lips hold the crotch between them as he sucks and licks the damp material until your juices coat his tongue and then some.
His eyes open for a moment, looking out the leg hole to check his surroundings for bystanders. His beemer sits in the far corner of the YMCA facing the back of a gas station. It's not where he had originally parked when he arrived for his work out today. A work out he didn't even get to, all because he bumped into you.
He's noticed you ever since he got the membership with Robin. Their goal was to attend 3 days a week together per Robin's request. Something about wanting not wanting to gain the freshman fifteen when she started her semester.
But school quickly became overwhelming for her and Steve found himself going to the gym by himself.Without Robin to distract him, Steve started paying attention to some of the people at the gym.
It was just a couple passing glances at first, not wanting to be one of those guys who stares at girls while they work out. He couldn't deny you were beautiful though. And when you approached him one day after it was just you and him in the gym, he felt that there was chemistry between the two of you. You laughed at his dumb jokes, engaged him with personal questions...hell you even touched his arm with your hand.
Your friendliness expanded beyond that day, too. If he didn't say hi to you first, you were approaching him to wish him a good workout. You'd even brought him "counter productive" donuts one day because he said he loved the local shop.
It was safe to say Steve had become completely head over heels for you over the last few months. And he totally has plans to ask you out. He really does. But, after all the failed dates he had been on since high school...he was almost afraid to jinx what the two of you had going on.
Today was going to be the day though. Or...it was supposed to be.
He was running late getting to the gym this morning, bad traffic on the commute to drop Robin off to her classes put him an hour behind schedule. So as he pushed through the YMCA doors with haste, silently praying to himself that you'd not left yet, he accidentally ran full speed into a body as they were leaving.
"Woah!"
Steve recognized your voice. It pulls him out of his head, focusing on your frame before him. He's bummed to see you in your work uniform, obviously done with your work out for the day.
"Sorry I didn't mean to almost knock you down," he apologizes, looking you over to make sure you're okay.
"It's okay," you reassure him, your bright smile making his heart ache. "I thought I wasn't going to see you today, so running into me is better than nothing!"
"Ugh, yeah, I really was trying to get here earlier but traffic and--and, life! Ya know?"
You nod sweetly. "Totally!"
"Yeah..." Steve's heart thumped in his chest. He didn't need to suffer through a whole work out routine before asking you out. He could ask you out right now. And if you rejected him, he'd be able to walk away and inevitably cancel his gym membership since he'd never be able to show his face again in this establishment.
Or, you would say yes, and he could walk you to your car so you could give him your number on a napkin you keep in your glove box in case of emergencies.
"Well, I guess I'll see you on Friday," you say after a beat of silence. Steve felt the words on the tip of his tongue. But, when your hand landed on his arm with a squeeze, he froze in place. All he could muster was a weak goodbye before you were pushing out the second set of double doors and walking to your car.
He waited to make sure you got in okay before letting out the breath he had been holding. His head slumped in defeat. What happened to the crown that sat on his head when he was in high school? Was it because he wanted something real with you?
There wasn't much dwelling on the subject as a bundle of pink just a few inches away from his feet caught his eye. Steve's eyebrow quirked, and he crouched down to grab...whatever it was.
The material felt soft but wet in his hands. He cringed a bit until the material unfurled in his hands, revealing to be a pair of pink, skimpy panties. The initial shock had him almost dropping the panties, but a split second closer look had him twitching slightly in his pants.
The underwear was yours. They must have fallen out of your gym bag when he bumped into you.
He knew they were yours because he'd see them peaking out of your work out shorts when you were bending down to tie your shoe. He didn't look on purpose, you'd just happened to have stopped in front of him and he saw them. He told himself it was on purpose when he touched himself that night, but deep down he knew it wasn't.
The door almost came off its hinges with how hard he pulled it open, making a bee line to his car. He slammed the car door shut and locked it, giving a quick look around before he was ducking down just out of view.
He breathed in deeply as he inhaled the scent of your panties, exhaling with a groan as your smell infiltrated his nostrils. It felt like he took a hit from a drug. He could practically taste you on his tongue when he went in for another sniff.
Flipping the underwear so that the crotch was resting between his hands, Steve's mouth watered at the sight of the creamy white that painted the pink fabric. His tongue darted out slightly, eyes darting around again as the nerves set in. This wasn't like Steve, but he blamed the way you drive him crazy on the dirty thoughts that were running through his head.
Just as he was about to act on them, the sight of a person walking out of the building had him hesitating. He placed your panties in his passenger seat and started his car, moving to the back of the building in a far off spot that was less traveled and slamming it into park.
Once the coast was clear, Steve wasted no time bringing his tongue to your underwear and lapping at it messily. He whined as your taste hit his tongue, and suddenly his pants were way too tight on his crotch.
This wasn't like him he thought to himself. Not that he hadn't had a hook up or two out by Lover's Lake. But to do what he was considering in such a public place went against his morals...
Your panties sit between Steve's teeth as he undoes his belt. He has to scoot his seat back or else his hard cock will just bump against the steering wheel. He pumps himself a few times in his hand, squeezing some of his precum out of his tip and using is to lube himself.
Steve sucks in a breath as he starts to fist himself. He holds the panties against his face as he begins to imagine your pussy on his face. His imagination runs wild as he thinks about all the ways he would eat you out, your pussy right in his face waiting for him to run his tongue through.
"Such a pretty pussy," he says to himself.
Without much thinking, he pauses his jerking to take the panties and stretch them out, hooking under his chin and pulling them until they're taught over his face.
With his free hand, he's able to cup his sensitive balls as he jerks himself with more vigor. He doesn't know how long he's at it, too engulfed in his pleasure to care about the passing time. All he can think about is making you cum all over his face and thanking you after.
Steve's hips buck into his hands. He can feel his climax approaching, his hand focusing on his tip as he brings himself to the edge.
Just as he's about to come, Steve pulls your panties off of his face and wraps them about his cock. He does the best he can to aim for the crotch where he has completely saturated it with it with his own saliva, cumming hard into the bunched up fabric.
After a moment of coming down, Steve slumps back into his seat. Guilt begins to wash over him as he looks at the sticky mess he's turned your sweet pink panties into. How could he even face you, let alone ask you out after what he's done?
Steve shoved your underwear into his gym bag. He didn't think he could give them back, even if the thought of you wearing them after he's cum in them made him almost half hard again. He would just throw them away in a dumpster somewhere...or he could wash them and--
thanks for reading.

I found this in my drafts and had to post. đ
I can see Eddie trying to get Steveâs attention by using the vacuum trick on his neck and then showing up to Steveâs house to hang out again, to brag about his 'conquest.' He expected a reaction from Steve, but he did not expect him to be so angry that he stormed into the bathroom, slamming it behind him.
"Steve?" Eddie knocked gently on the door. "I didn't think you would get this mad."
Steve opened the door, a furious expression on his face.
"You didn't think that I would be upset that my boyfriend cheated on me?!" Steve exclaimed. "I know we haven't been dating for long, but I kind of thought that it was implied that we both weren't seeing other people. I mean, I told you that I wasn't seeing other people."
"You thought that I was your boyfriend?" Eddie asked.
"You didn't l? Oh, I am an idiot," Steve said.
"No, Steve, you're not! It's me, I'm the dumbass. Oh God, you asking me to the movies that were you asking me on a date! Our first date and I missed it! And you've been wanting to hang out a lot more. You've been holding my hand when you take me on walks. I just thought you didn't want me to get lost! You even told me that you stopped dating, that was you telling me that you weren't seeing anyone else!" Eddie said, running his fingers through his hair. "You gave me flowers!"
"Yeah, I don't know how to be any clearer than that," Steve said. "I just want to know who this person who gave you that hickey is. Were they a good kisser?"
"Wait, why haven't you tried kissing me?" Eddie asked.
"Answer my question first, Eddie," Steve said.
"No, you answer mine!" Eddie exclaimed.
"Fine! I thought we were taking things slow! It was nice," Steve snapped.
"Oh, Steve, I'm sorry. Ugh, I am an idiot. You're going to laugh. There is no one else. I, uh, tried to make you jealous by using the vacuum trick on my neck."
Steve paused, pursed his lips together, and then burst out laughing.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up, pretty boy," Eddie scowled.
"I love you, Eddie," Steve said, his eyes twinkling with mirth.
"What?" Eddie asked in alarm. "After what I just told you?"
"Yep, I love you!" Steve grinned.
Eddie smiled, cupping Steveâs face. He rubbed his thumbs across his cheekbones. He took one hand and began tracing the shape of Steveâs face, running a finger gently over his skin. Steveâs eyes fluttered close, and he sighed in contentment.
"What are you doing?" Steve asked softly.
"Soaking in the moment," Eddie said, and leaned his forehead against his. "I love you too."
Steve closed the gap and kissed him. Eddie wrapped his arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. Eddie sighed against his lips. Yeah, he was dreaming. He was definitely dreaming. Steve sighed and broke the kiss.
"So, you know you're my boyfriend now, right?" Steve asked.
"Yes, asshole, I do," Eddie replied.
"Just checking," he told him and went back to kissing him.
"Hey, Steve?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you think, maybe, we can not tell Robin about the vacuum thing?" Eddie asked.
"I'll see what I can do, boyfriend."
"Really?"
"Just a friendly reminder."

Of toppings and fillings
Written for the @steddieholidaydrabbles, day 19
Prompt: Dessert
Rated: M
Tags: Established relationship; Idiots in love; Competitive idiots, to be more specific; Sexually explicit language; Sexual innuendo; Eddie is a little shit
It starts out innocently enough. Steve is lounging on the couch, Eddie sprawled on top of him. On the television, some home-making show is running, but Steve has dropped into a pleasant doze and isn't really paying attention.Â
Until Eddie says, âMan, I could go for some of that right now.âÂ
Steve blinks at the screen.
âAnd there it is,â chirps the host. âCrispy meringue with that juicy filling underneath, which is the perfect mix of sweet and tart. With this delicious dessert, your family will-âÂ
Steve huffs. âIt probably isn't half as good as my nonna's recipe. Her pies were the best.â
âHah!â Eddie exclaims, propping himself up and ignoring the pained groan when his elbows dig into Steveâs ribs. âThat only shows you never tried my grannyâs baking.â
âUgh, get off me,â Steve wheezes. He tries to shove Eddie away, only heâll have none of it, and within seconds, things escalate into a full-on wrestling match. âAre you trying to insult my nonnaâs baking?âÂ
âMy grannyâs baking,â Eddie purrs, pinning Steveâs wrists over his head. His breath fans over Steve's face, soft and warm. âWould fuck your nonnaâs baking against the kitchen counter like a little bitch, and your nonnaâs baking would enjoy it.âÂ
Steve sputters. Eddie smirks.Â
Steve feels his teeth grit.Â
âOh yeah?â Prove it, Munson.âÂ
*
âOkay,â says Robin. âWalk me through this again. He shit-talked your nonna, so you made a bet on whose recipe was better? Youâre supposed to whisk it, dingus.âÂ
Steve groans. His wrist is hurting. Thereâs dough stuck in his hair. âYes, Robin, for the fifth time. Why is that so hard to understand?â
âWhy is it so hard to understand the difference between whisking and stirring?â she snaps, making to snatch the bowl from his hands.
âHey,â Dustin bellows. Heâs standing next to Eddie, who is furiously attacking his own bowl with the hand mixer, bits of filling spraying in all directions. âNo cheating, heâs supposed to do it alone.â
âCut him some slack, Henderson,â Eddie says, tossing a grin in Steveâs direction. âItâs hard, getting a proper filling all on your own.âÂ
Robin slouches back against the counter, hiding her scowl behind nonnaâs cookbook.
âIt seems a bit excessive is all I'm saying. You couldâve bet for money, like normal people? How am I ever supposed to eat anything from your kitchen again, knowing that youâve been on your knees in here, scrubbing dough off the floor, clad in nothing but a frilly apron, have you thought about that? Itâs unhygienic, Steve!âÂ
âJesus, shut up,â Steve hisses, throwing a frantic look at Dustin. Luckily, heâs busy shouting at Eddie about tempering the eggs, whatever that means. âAnd for the record, Iâm not losing this. Iâve been cooking for myself since I was ten years old, while Eddie ⌠Iâve seen him burn SphaghettiOs, Rob. Thereâs no way!âÂ
âCooking is different from baking, though,â she says. âI wouldnât be so sure if I were you. Say, is it supposed to look like scrambled eggs?âÂ
âWhoops,â Eddie says, knocking a bag of flour off the counter with his elbow. âLeave it, Henderson. Iâm sure Steve wonât mind cleaning it up later.âÂ
Steve growls, throwing his whisk down so hard it bounces off the counter and hits the nearest wall.
âCâmon, letâs get this thing in the oven.âÂ
*
âEsteemed jury,â Eddie declares, setting his pie down next to Steveâs. âThis is it, the moment of truth. Two pies have entered into this contest, but only one shall emerge victorious, forever determining who-âÂ
âQuit it,â Steve says. âOr are you scared to admit defeat? Your topping is as flat as your ass.â
He nods down at their creations. The perfect golden tufts of meringue crowning his own, and the unimpressive, brown crust on Eddieâs.
Eddie grins. âWhy donât you leave your verdict on my topping skills for later, big boy?âÂ
The kids, whoâve been following the exchange with swiveling heads, frown.Â
âAre you still talking about pie?â El asks. âIt doesnât seem like youâre still talking about-â
Robin sighs. âJust cut them and get this over with.âÂ
Steve nods, grabbing one of the knives from her hand while Eddie takes the second.Â
âLook at this and weep, Munson,â he says, cutting a slice and lifting it out of the pan for everyone to see. âPerfect, homemade lemon meringue pie. Crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, just as it should-âÂ
The topping slides off. A chorus of ooofs goes through the spectators.
âErm, thatâs okay,â Steve says. âIâm sure it still tastes fine, it's just-âÂ
The filling dissolves into a puddle. It lands next to the soggy pile of topping with a wet squelch. The ooofs turn into eeews. Robin cringes.Â
âYeah, no offense, dingus, but Iâm not eating that. Gives me icky mouth feels just looking at it.âÂ
Itâs Willâs voice that makes them both turn around.
âOh, wow! That looks delicious, Eddie!âÂ
âThank you,â Eddie says as the kids scramble to hold their plates out to him. With a large smile in Steveâs direction, he hands a particularly large slice to Will. A perfectly shaped slice of bright yellow pie with a beautiful, firm topping of meringue on top. Itâs snowy white under the brown crust.Â
Steve drops the knife.Â
âBut I donât- âŚâ he mutters, sinking down into a chair with wobbly legs. âHow did you- ⌠You donât even know how to cook!âÂ
âI donât,â Eddie smiles indulgently, sliding him a plate. âBut Iâve been watching my granny bake since I was tall enough to peep over the counter.â
He presses a fork into Steveâs hand and a kiss to his cheek, patting his shoulder as he saunters off towards the kitchen.Â
âEnjoy your pie, sweetheart. Iâll get the cleaning supplies from the closet. The apron, too.âÂ
Steve gulps around his first bite of pie.Â

Trailer park Steve AU part 19
part 1 | part 18 | ao3
November
As annoyed as Steve is to admit it, Dustinâs plan actually works.
(And he is annoyed, for the record. That little shithead should be glad heâs still grounded because Steveâs sorely tempted to invite him over just to give him a wedgie.)
Somewhere in the weeks following The Abduction Incident, he and Eddie become friends. Like, real ones. Friends who talk and laugh and shoot the shit in passing, who trade movies and mix tapes and ask each other if they saw the latest headlines in the morning paper.
They havenât really had much chance to properly hang out, but Steve sees him most mornings, because he promised Wayne to keep making sure Eddie doesnât sleep in on school days, and sometimes when theyâre both around in the afternoons theyâll have a couple beers together, share a cigarette on the lumpy loveseat on the front porch of Eddieâs place.Â
And EddieâsâŚ
Eddieâs funny. Oddly charming. Theatrical and weird. Steve already knew that last part, but itâs so much better when itâs not being used as an offensive weapon against him. He likes being in on Eddieâs jokes.Â
Just plain likes Eddie, if heâs honest.Â
âSteve?â Â
Which should be crazy. It is crazy; if someone had told him a couple years ago that heâd be spending his free time with The Freak â that he would regret missing the guyâs Halloween show because of a Family Video shift, or that he would spend a week working up the courage to ask him if he wants to ride to school with Robin and him in the mornings? He probably would have kicked their ass for the mere suggestion.Â
But now heâs half-orphaned trailer trash who knows that monsters exist, so. Eh.
âSteve! Hello? Earth to Steve.â
Steve blinks, focuses on the fingers Robinâs snapping in front of his face. âHuh?â he asks dumbly.Â
He expects her to roll her eyes and pretend to chastise him with some butchered version of his nameâ âSteven Cardamom Harrington, were you daydreaming again?â â but she just snaps her fingers again and begs, âA little help here? Please?â Her eyes are wide, her shoulder scrunched up to her ears with stress, and Steve realizes that:
a) heâs been staring blankly at a cart of go-backs for ten minutes instead of actually doing his job, and
b) the store is suddenly packed.
Friday night, and the rain thatâs been hanging over Hawkins all week finally let up, so now everyone and their mother is apparently out running errands.Â
He moves to man the front desk because the line is almost out the door, and Robin buzzes around the room like a shaken can of pure panic, her bangs sticking to her forehead as she zooms up and down aisles with the restock cart. She keeps making crazy eyes at parents when they stop her to ask about new releases or the age-appropriateness of films, because the parents are distracting her from intercepting their little gremlin children, who keep putting movies on the wrong shelves on purpose just to piss her off.Â
âDumbo! Does not go! In the horror section!â Steve hears her bark at a group of third graders, and he has to crouch down behind the counter for a second so she doesnât see him laughing when she follows that up with a strangled, âUgh!!!â
Okay.Â
Entertaining as this is, heâs not getting chewed out by Keith again for missing quotas because Robin blew a gasket and scared off all the customers.Â
âHey, Rob?â he calls out to her as he hands a woman her change.Â
âWhat?âÂ
âGo take a smoke break?âÂ
He knows she doesnât smoke. He also knows that sometimes rushes like this get to be too much for her â the noise, the lights, the chaos of a crowd (âthe mouth sounds, Steve; good god, the mouth soundsâ) â and she needs a minute or twelve to go stand outside in the cool air, flap her hands around and scream behind a dumpster or whatever until she calms down.
Her eyes flash at the suggestion like sheâs about to snap at him, but then she takes a deep breath and marches herself out the back door without another word.
With Robin cleared out, the crowd thins out pretty quickly. Steve gets the line taken care of at a speed heâs definitely not getting paid enough to maintain, and the kids get bored of playing ârearrange the inventoryâ and wander off to the arcade.Â
Itâs sort of soothing, the mindless flow of it: scan, click, click, make change, âthanks for choosing Family Video,â print receipt, repeat. His mind wanders again as he works, but it doesnât sink into its usual sludge of despair; doesnât wail âhouse bills mom pills stress fuck-fuckâ like a tornado siren in his head until he gives himself a migraine.Â
No, heâs thinking about denim. About cigarette smoke.
Crooked smile; Chiclet teeth.
Patches and pins with strange names and stranger artwork.
And then heâs thinking about how this is the second time tonight heâs started daydreaming about Eddie and wills himself to knock it off.
What? The guyâs friendly with him a handful of times, and suddenly heâs, like, obsessed with him?
Heâs not.Â
Heâs not.Â
He's just⌠pleasantly distracted by him; that's all.
âThanks for choosing Family Video,â he tells the last customers as he hands them their receipt. The second they turn to leave, he slumps over the counter with his head pillowed on his arms, a wave of exhaustion hitting him because holy shit that was so many people and thank god the storeâs finally empty.Â
The bell over the door dings.
Goddammit.Â
Steve lifts his head, reminds himself not to scowl at paying customers because he really needs this job, but thenâÂ
âEddie! Hey!â

Bruceâs oldest son
Youâve been with your father Bruce since he was 22. At this time Bruce thought you were an error and sometimes tried to get rid of you. If it werenât for Alfred you wouldâve been in an orphanage.
You turned 14 when Bruce came back from his training he tried to talk to you be a better father then he was In the past. You didnât respond why? Were you supposed to forget what happened? Hell no.
Now when he became Batman he told you, he trusted you with his life. He wanted for you a good future. You gave him an opportunity and helped him while he was fighting crime of course you couldnât fight like he could, but you could make gadgets for him. Like the electrified batarang.
Once you met Bruceâs first adopted son Dick you wanted to be the best older brother. Teaching him a lot of stuff and created for him (against your will) gadgets that would help him and Bruce fight crime together. You did feel left behind, watching Bruce and the kid that he just knew have a stronger connection makes you feel jealous.
A couple of years later you met Jason your second youngest brother who was a pain in the ass. You tried to get close to him he would yell at you. Talk to him he would try to punch you and it was like that since he became a robin. But one time that he didnât know you knew Bruce was Batman he said bad stuff about you.
âLike I donât understand why do he keeps talking to me! He is just weaker and dumber and ugh!â Dick snarled at that âhey donât talk to M/n like that!â You entered the room making everyone silent. âDonât worry Dick Iâm fine. And Jason Iâll leave you alone if thatâs what you wantâŚâ you had A hurt expression on your face Dick was mad and Jason felt even angrier. âI donât understand why are you so important to them! Youâre worthless and do not know what suffering is I donât even know how anybody likes you youâre just a crybaby asking for attention!â Wow⌠that really hurtâŚ
After like 3 years you left for college. Almost all your family was going to miss you. Not Jason Todd. It was like that for sometime, you called they asked you how were you feeling and how were you doing.
Now you did discover some stuff about you, like you could use magic! And had un-human speeds. And elasticity. Okay you had a lot of powers but It didnât mean you were the strongest being in the world no. If you could barely use your magic and elasticity imagine the other powers.
âM/n⌠I really miss you umm s-something I-is going o-on!â Dick said while he started to cry âwhatâs wrong Dick!?â You asked him. Dick told you that Jason was captured and they couldnât find him.
You were lost, where could Jason be? You searched every building in Gotham and you were at the last building. âI really hope is this oneâ after sometime searching in the building you heard screaming and crying. âJason!â Before the joker could react you shot him with your magic
âget out of here!â Jason was hesitant if he should go âwhat are you going to do! I canât just leave you!â While the joker let poison was on the room. you covered his mouth with a peace of rope. âugh- listen you need to get out of hereâ you said while coughing loudly. Jason couldnât leave he heard you fight with the Joker.
Itâs almost over you did what you could, but you had a plan you were going to push Joker out the window with your legs and run as fast as you can. Why? Because there was a fucking bomb inside the building. That fight was really hard, not only were you breathing in poison gas but you were bleeding out.
The Joker was about to hit you with a nearby chair. âleave him alone!â Jason stabbed the joker in the back. âYou rascal youâre going to have the same fate as your brother!â he hit Jason with the chair in his back âJason!â
While you tried to pick up Jason the Jocker grabbed you and punched you in the face. âUgh!â Fuck Bruceâs rule! You shot magic through his stomach killing him in the process. âJason I told you to leave!â â I couldnât leave you just like that.â Before the Jason said something else you heard a tick. âShut-â before Jason knew what happened you grabbed him and protected him with your elasticity powers.
Jason woke up to see a burning building. â Yes! We did it M/n! M/n?â Jason couldnât found you. âM/n!â Before Jason could keep searching Bruce and Dick showed up. â Jason how are you alive?â Dick said before hugging him. âM/n! We need to find him! H- he was with me inside!â Bruce and Dick were shocked that you were here. âNo he is supposed to be alive! I saw him! He killed the joker!â Jason screamed before breaking down in Dickâs arms. âIâm sorry JasonâŚâ Dick said while looking at Bruce. Hi Coza! Congrats on the milestone! You so deserve it! Can I please have a Law x female Strawhat reader who reunited after they spent the two years together, how do they explain to the rest of the Strawhats that they ended up starting to date during that time (they are still dating now) and how do the strawhats react to the news? Thank you and congrats again!
A/N: I couldâve spent another 12 pages writing about this UGH great prompt friend. (also going to tag @nico-the-witch since they sent me a very similar request FOREVER ago <3)
Characters: female reader x Law Total word count: 1.1k
The Hats or the Hearts
You were dodgy when your crewmates asked you about your two year gap. You were certain that Luffy would feel betrayed by your decision to travel with other pirates, even if it hadnât been your intention at first.Â
You and Law had fallen in love. There was no other way to put it. Your two years had been spent training, but also learning about yourself, and in the softest hours of the night, learning about him. You hadnât planned to fall in love, especially with another captain. But that was the way your heart chose.
And yet, at the end of the two years, you returned to Sabaody. You couldnât abandon your family, and Law had respected that. He had business to attend to, anyway. A personal mission he needed to take care of. So you left the crew behind, just the two of you had headed off to Sabaody, and then he left you there to wait for Luffy.Â
You shouldâve ended things. Both of you knew how impossible it would be for two members of opposing crews to be together. But neither of you could bring yourself to end such a good thing, so you promised to call when you could, and that was that.Â
And yet, you still werenât sure how to break it to Luffy and the others. How do you admit that you spent your two years falling in love while everyone else was isolated on an island, solely focused on their training?
âLuffy, thereâs something I need to talk to you about,â you finally said, once the two of you were alone. âItâs about our two year gap. I was-â
âLook!â Luffy shouted, pointing out to sea. âA volcano is erupting! Letâs go there!â
âListen, Luffy-â you tried again.Â
âWait a minute, Luffy!â Nami shouted over you.Â
âLetâs go!â Luffy shouted. He didnât seem interested in having a heart to heart, though you couldnât blame him with a fiery sea laid out right in front of him.Â
A little while later, you were on the island of Punk Hazard, traveling with Zoro, Luffy, Robin, and Usopp. Your confession and explanation would have to come later.Â
Only a few hours, as fate would have it.Â
âOh! Itâs you!â Luffy called from atop the beast you rode. âDo you remember me?!â
âHeâs the guy we met at the Human Shop in Sabaody,â Zoro murmured.Â
You scrambled up to get a better look. A spotted hat and a black cape. But that was impossible, why was he here? He had personal business to take care of. Punk Hazard wasnât anything important to him.Â
âLuffy,â your voice filled with urgency. âThereâs something you should know.â
âHeâs Trafalgar Law,â Robin reported. âHeâs nowâŚâ
âTorao!â Luffy shouted. âHe helped me get away from the battlefield and treated my wounds.â
âLuffy,â you said again, your eyes still locked on Law. âI need to-â
But he took off running toward Law without listening to your words, and the two captains spoke for several minutes. Your heart sank watching them, watching Lawâs eyes flick occasionally to you. This was the last way you wanted your captain to find out about all of this.Â
But when Luffy returned, he didnât say anything about his conversation with Law. You kept waiting for him to bring it up, but you all were being chased by the Navy. Perhaps he knew it was a conversation for later. There were more important tasks to be done.Â
Your group raced around the lab and found the rest of your crew, along with some very large children. Ones who appeared to be giants.Â
You didnât rest until everyone was safe in a snowcave, and thatâs when you began to notice your crewmates personalities were a littleâŚoff.Â
âLaw switched your minds, didnât he?â You held back a laugh. Of course he did. He knew the Strawhats wouldnât be able to leave without being put back into the correct bodies. And you would finally be able to see him again.
âHowâd you know?â Nami asked.
âOf course he did!â the random head shouted. âThat warlord is the one who cut me up, too!â
âWarlord?!â Luffy shouted, emerging from the snowball he was in. âWhen did Torao become a warlord?!â
âWithin the past two years,â Robin said.
âAbout ten months ago, if I remember correctly.â Everyone gave you strange looks, and you let out a deep sigh. âLuffy, I really need to talk to you.â
Luffyâs brow furled. He didnât like the sound of your voice. âWhat is it?â
You looked around the circle. Better to just tell everyone now and get it over with. âDuring our two year training time, I sailed with Law and the Heart Pirates.â
There was a long pause. Everyone was looking at their captain, waiting for his response.Â
âTorao? Are you sure? He didnât mention it when I talked to him earlier.â
Law not mentioning or asking about you was odd, but you had to assume he was only doing it out of respect.Â
âIâm sorry I didnât tell you earlier, Luffy. I was just scared of what you would say. I was afraid you would kick me out of your crew.â
âWhy would I kick you out?â Luffy scratched his head in confusion. âDo you want to leave?â
âNo!â you cried out. âNo, I want to stay with you and everyone. I justâŚwasnât sure how youâd take it.â
âCanât say I blame you for sailing with him,â Nami said. âHeâs an interesting character.â
âAnd quite skilled,â Robin offered up.
But Zoro eyed you warily, trying to figure out your true allegiance. You couldnât blame him.Â
âLuffy, I swear I want to see you become King of the Pirates,â you said, your words genuine. âI think you deserve it more than anyone.â
âYeah!â Luffy shouted. âBut I really donât know why you were scared to tell me about sailing with Torao. We all did cool things during our time away. Brook toured, Robin joined the Revolutionary Army, and you sailed the sea. Itâs not that big of a deal.â
âExcept that she served under another captain,â Zoro said, still locked onto you. âAnother captain who is coincidentally a warlord who helps the government. And heâs coincidentally on this island with us now.â
âI had no idea he was going to be here, I swear!â
âSee Zoro?â Luffy shrugged, clearly not caring about the idea Zoro was alluding to. âShe says she didnât know. Sheâs still a part of our crew. Thatâs what matters.â
And you were loyal to the Strawhats. But you were also loyal to the Heart Pirates. You just prayed youâd never have to make a decision between one or the other.

Part 1.
Maybe if Steve acts casual Robin wonât even notice. She barely pays attention to him when sheâs too busy rambling about her love life. Or lack there of. If Steveâs lucky, today is gonna be one of those days.
But Steveâs good luck probably ended the first time he took a look at a demogorgon.
âWhat is that?â Robin giggled. If she finds this amusing wait until she hears what actually happened.
âWhat?â
âDonât play dumb. That only worked when I thought you were an actual idiot.â She rolled her eyes.
âYeah well, I was hoping you wouldnât notice.â Steve put on his family video vest and clocked in.
âWhat? I notice things!â Robin exclaimed when Steve made his way to the counter.
âYeah, when youâre not too busy daydreaming about Vickie.â
âYouâre changing the subject!â
âObjection!â
âStop it!â
Steve sighed. How could you explain your friend sucked your neck to make your another friend jealous when you donât even like said friend? Tricky.
Ugh. Robin was gonna make fun of him.
âYou wouldnât believe me.â Steve tried. It was a last resort to save himself from the embarrassment.
âYeah, because Iâve never experienced anything out of the ordinary.â She raised an eyebrow. Steve knew she wouldnât let it go. âWhen did you even go on a date, dingus? I donât remember you telling me about it.â
âI didnât go on a date.â
âWell then who did that?â She narrowed her eyes. âEw! Are you in a friends with benefits situation?â She look scandalized and curious at the same time. âBecause honestly Steve, I donât think thatâs your thing. I mean even if you try, it wouldnât work out. Youâre like an actual romantic. Wanting a serious relationship, yearning connection and all that shit. It would be cute if you werenât kinda desperate sometimes.â Okay he had to cut her off if he wanted to keep his ego unbruised.
âJesus! Okay! You donât have to say it like Iâm some loser who canât get a girlfriend!â If he needed humbling he knew who to call now though.
âBut you kind of are.â
âDo you want to know or not?â Even if he was embarrassed about the whole thing, he couldnât lie and say he wasnât hoping Robin would give him some insight. Once she stopped making fun of him. âIt was Eddie.â
Her eyes widened in surprise and⌠excitement? âHoly shit! It finally happened?â What is she talking about now? âI thought I would actually have to wait another year at least for you guys to figure it out.â Thereâs nothing that makes Steve feel more inadequate than when he doesnât get what people are talking about. âI mean anyone whoâs got eyes could see how much you two liked each other and itâs cute but I was getting tired of the pining..â she trailed off when she saw how silent Steve was. âWhy arenât you as excited as me?â
Pining? Like each other? Did Robin think..? Did Eddie?
âWhat the fuck are you talking about?â He questioned. His mind was going through every interaction him and Eddie once had. Trying to analyze his own behavior to come up with an explanation as to why someone would think he likes Eddie.
âOh god. I thought. Did you guys not like⌠get together?â She was hesitant. It felt like she was trying not to scare a wild animal.
âNo.â
âI gotta stop running my mouth like that. Iâm sorry.â She looked mortified and it would be funny if this was another situation. âBut what? Why would he do that? Iâm so lost here, Steve.â
Steve went through backstory first, then he started retelling the events of the other day. Including how he actually enjoyed himself a little. He might as well be a hundred percent transparent, she was his best friend after all.
âRobin, say something.â His best friend being silent was not something he was used to.
âIâm so confused.â She said.
âMe too.â His confusion was starting to fade. The answer right in front of his face.
âSo youâre⌠not together? Even after that?â
âI donât even like him like that!â
âBut you said you liked it!â
âWho wouldnât!â
âI wouldnât! Steve, a boy giving me hickeys is one of my worst nightmares.â He knew that. He knew it meant something that he liked it. The question is if heâs ready to face what it means.
âI- I know, okay?â
âSteve, say the word and weâll stop talking about this.â He loves his best friend. He doesnât know what heâd do without her.
âNo. I think Iâm ready.â Steve muttered. Robin smiled gently at him and that was all the encouragement he needed to feel safe enough to say it out loud.
âI like him.â
They hugged.
-
âIt kinda sucks that he doesnât like me back though.â
Robin thunked her head on the counter.

WIP excerpt: Billy and Damian and the whole soulmate thing.
âThat could be considered a security concern,â Batman says very, very neutrally, which is when Billy realizes Batman hasnât actually said anything to him since he said âShazamâ.Â
Shit.Â
âSo what?â he says, edging a little bit away from Batman as he eyes him warily and debates âShazamâ-ing himself again. Like. No reason. Just this might be an easier conversation to have on eye-level, thatâs all.Â
Also itâs Batman, so . . .Â
âItâs true,â Superman says, wincing slightly. Billy shoots him a dirty look. He still hasnât forgotten that Superman apparently thinks he shouldnât be allowed to risk his literal life and soul, like he thinks heâs bad at this or something? Heâs really good at risking his literal life and soul, actually! Like, heâs really good at it, and itâs his whole literal thing. Superman didnât even get hired to do this, he just showed up one day and started punching people! Billy at least had a job interview!Â
Such bullshit.Â
âSeriously?â he says with a scowl. âIâm good at secret identities. Nobody knew mine âtil I told you! Thatâs the same track record as Batman!âÂ
âItâs technically superior,â Robin says. âRed Robin and Black Bat both deduced Fatherâs identity as children. And alsoââÂ
âThatâs unnecessary information at this time, Robin,â Batman cuts in while Billyâs still appreciating having a supportive soulmate. Robin rolls his eyes. Or Billyâs pretty sure he doesâhe canât really tell through the mask, but Robin moved his head like he was rolling his eyes.Â
âThe list would require some time to go over,â Robin says like heâs agreeing. Billy hides a snicker in his hand. Batman eyes him.Â
â. . . you do realize I'm going to be taking you in now, right?â he asks.Â
âDammit,â Billy says.Â
âHoly crap, Cap swears?!â Flash yelps.Â
âOh yeah, itâs actually like a magic thing,â Billy says. âI literally canât say bad words when I'm Captain Marvel? So no, technically, but also yes and all the fucking time.âÂ
âMy entire life is a lie,â Flash mutters as he buries his face in his hands. Green Arrow pats him on the back.Â
âYou canât âtake me inâ,â Billy says, scowling up at Batman. âI've gotta protect Fawcett. And youâve got like, so many kids! Thereâs no way you have space for another one! They wouldnât even let you, anyway, as soon as somebody noticed I was there Iâd just end up in the stupid system again.âÂ
âIâm a licensed foster parent and there are seventeen bedrooms in my house,â Batman replies dryly.Â
âBullshit!â Billy sputters. âThatâs not a house! Nobodyâs house has seventeen bedrooms!âÂ
âTechnically that count includes the servantsâ quarters and guest wing, but it is accurate,â Robin says.Â
âGuest wing?!â Billy demands. âWhy do you have a guest wing?!âÂ
âFor guests,â Batman replies matter-of-factly. Billy scowls at him again. Just because Batmanâs funny doesnât mean heâs gonna laugh. Or get stuck in the system again.Â
Like, heâll just run away immediately, obviously. But getting to the point where he can run away is gonna be a pain, and the League is obviously gonna be a pain about it too.
Ugh. This is so dumb.

blurb of steve harrington x reader having a daddy kink (minors DNI; not proofread)
maybe it was the warmth of steveâs heated pool or the sips of rosĂŠ you had rushing to your brain, but you couldnât stop the fluttering in your tummy as you watched steve play basketball with the younger teens in his pool. you certainly couldnt stop the feeling when robin swam up to sit with you on the pool steps and pointed out steveâs behavior, âugh look at dingus⌠god heâs gonna be such a good dad one day- itâs kinda annoying.â of course, you couldnât help but agree with her, a dreamy sigh slipping out of your month while steve dunked dustin under the water, and you had begun imagining him with a lil fluffy-haired babe of his own. robin clocked the way you were looking at steve, âdonât you agree?â she questioned as you quickly nodded your head, âoh i see- you wanna be the one to make him a daddddyyy!â teasing you in that sing-song voice, making you simply giggle in return, trying to ignore the warmth that flushed to your cunt thinking about steve as a daddy.
one of the best things about your relationship with steve is that he almost always can tell how you are feeling, he can read you like a book. so you werenât shocked that he immediately could tell what you needed when you wrapped your arms around him, basically hugging him from behind as he cleaned the grill, clad in just his yellow crewneck over your damp bikini to fight the nip of the wind. at this point, everyone had left so he felt no shame as he put his arm around your shoulder, pulled you into his side, and stared at your glassy puppy-dog eyes. breathlessly chuckling, he pressed a chaste kiss on your forehead, âi know, honey, i know.â
once you got inside, steve all but carried you to his bedroom, both of you loving the way he manhandled you, as you pressed small pecks on his jaw and cheeks. âare you feeling needy, baby, huh?â he teased, turning the knob on his door, noticing the way your hips were trying to hump his. you could whimper and squirm in response as steve sat down on his bed with you in his lap. you were both so turned on, and still a lil tipsy, so it wasnât a surprise when you ended sinking down on his throbbing cock, his hands on your waist, within a few minutes. âoâshit baby, yeah there you go, my good girl. jusâ the tip, ok, donât hurt yourself baby- god youâre so fuckin wet,â steve couldnât help his whines and moans as you trembled like a leaf around him, cockdrunk trying to take him deeper. âhnghhh-oh! i-i ca- cant-sâgood daddyâ. you didnât catch the petname slipping past your lips, but steve did. ďżźstopping you from sinking any further, he stilled your hips and grabbed your face by squishing your checks âwhat did u call me, honey?â of course you were beyond embarrassed, but with his steady grip in your face you had nowhere to run. âiâm sâsorry! i didnt mean to i-it jusâ slipped out-â you felt stupid and small and you couldnât control the tears dripping from your eyes. âaw, sweetheart, itâs okay, dont be embarrassed. i jusâ wanted to know why you want to call me that. yâknow ill give you whatever you ask for, angelâ. you stopped your sniffling, and shifted your eyes to nervously connect with steveâs, basically whining out â âs just-robin asked me if i was ever gonna make you a dad, ânâ i cant help imagining it- you take such good care of all of the group now, and well⌠me so i jusâ couldnt stop thinkinâ about itâ
steve could say he was surprised but, he wasnât. at heart, he was a caregiver through and through, and that carried into your relationship to an extreme. there was a hint of casual dominance in everything he did for you. tying your shoes, carrying you around, bathing you in the shower or bath, keeping your hands warm in his pocket, making you meals, feeding you when you were to weak, kissing you to sleep everynight, etc,. and to be honest, he blushed to the thought of you wanting his babies as bad as he wanted to give them to you.
âaw, peach,â he cooed grabbing your face and slowly thrusting into you, watching you contort your pout into a gasp, âyouâre sâsweet, love, one day, youâre gonna let me put a baby in you, hm? yeah but until, iâll just be your daddy, you can have me all to yourself, how âbout that, honey?â you rapidly nodded your head with your eyes pinched, whimpering and whining about how good it felt and how deep he was, as you began to match his thrusts, slowing building a steady pace as he went further and further inside you. âmy shy, dumb lil baby, huh? put daddyâs cock in you and you canât respond tâme? thatâs okay, my girl, my good girl, just let your head go empty and daddy will do all the work, gonna make this soaked, pretty pussy cum all over me.â

Hiiiii Robin aka Bird Boy!
Sorry I took a bit longer than usual to reply but dad suddenly decided heâd had enough of the forest and we went back home! I thought maybe itâd be fun to wait a bit longer and show you our house and stuff. I donât really like moving around all the time but I guess it kinda gives you lots of new stuff to talk about so thatâs something.
This is our house! Itâs not as big as yours looks but thereâs only two of us and weâre not always here so it makes sense that itâs not massive. Dad usually rents it out whilst weâre not here cos he says itâs better for the house that itâs looked after but I know he means itâs better for his bank too lol!! I guess it works out for me though cos he says I can put as many plants as I want in my room as long as I keep them alive so theyâd die if we left it empty every time we left. He says itâs like I brought the jungle inside hahaaha, I like it though!
The last person who rented the house was one of dadâs old work friends and he left this cool telescope for me to play with since Iâm âso keen about the stars and shitâ HIS WORDS! I know youâre supposed to use it at night but itâs kinda fun to spy on people during the day too. Like Iâm pretty sure our neighbours are getting a divorce cos I overheard the guy moaning about the lady to my dad once and sometimes you can hear them yelling and see them waving their arms at each other through the window or on the balcony (donât tell anyone though hahaa!)
I think dadâs kinda happy to be back (look how bushy his eyebrows are though ahahhhahah) he spends a lot of time fishing but I know itâs only a matter of time until he gets itchy and runs out of money again. Half of me wishes heâd get a good job here so we wouldnât have to move around all the time but the other half is glad to leave. I guess itâs kinda nice here AND I was born here but I donât even like swimming and thereâs water and beaches EVERYWHERE ugh..
I guess I donât really think Sulani feels like home anymore, not since mom died. Itâs pretty and itâs nice but something is always missing so itâs kinda lame too if that makes sense. Maybe thatâs why dad likes to leave sometimes too, Iâd ask him but heâd probably get upset so maybe not! I was gonna leave that part out cos itâs a bummer but we donât really keep many secrets from each other so I said itâŚ
Anyway, dadâs a pig and never cleans ANYTHING and I think he got bored of me complaining about how big and heavy the vacuum is cos he got me a cool mini one (itâs a âsorry we move around so much but hereâs a present so shhâ present but Iâll take it hahaa) he took it off me for a few days after I hoovered some crumbs out of his bed and sucked up his headphones by accident but thatâs his fault for eating cookies in bed when he should be sleeping.
Oh and since thereâs not many fun rocks to find or dig up here I decided to start up my shell collection again. I found a few nice ones I guess but I really want to find a conch! Dad said theyâre pretty rare but youâd think with all the stupid sand and beaches around here that Iâd be able to find at least ONE even if it was a tiny one but not yet! Iâll let you know if I do though!
Anyway, Iâm kinda sad we left Granite Falls in the end cos it was so close to the holidays I hoped maybe your family would go camping again and weâd be able to explore together again. Hopefully next time we move weâll move even closer to where you live so thereâs more chance weâll get to see each other! A bird pooped on me the other day though which dad said is supposed to be lucky so I decided to believe him and hope we get to hang out again one day SOON (after I had a shower anyway because EUGH!)
Hope youâre okay and glad to be done with school for the summer!
Love Alex :)
